Donald Trump will name top immigration adviser Stephen Miller as his deputy chief of staff for policy in an administration focused on an unprecedented border offensive, according to reports.
Miller was the architect of Trump’s immigration plan during his first term and will be on the front lines of the president-elect’s plan to carry out the largest mass deportation in history.
The decision comes less than 24 hours after Trump tapped former Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Tom Homan as his border czar.
Miller has previously said that a second Trump administration would see a tenfold increase in the number of immigrants deported.

Republican Vice President-elect JD Vance celebrated Trump’s election on Monday.
“This is another fantastic pick by the president,” Vance wrote in X. “Congratulations Stephen!”
Article III founder Mike Davis also congratulated Miller on the appointment.

Miller has been an adviser to Trump since his first term in the White House.

In particular, Miller was an important figure in the first Trump administration.
He helped write speeches for the Republican and was also involved in several different policies, including many immigration-related initiatives.
The 39-year-old helped craft Trump’s travel ban policies in January 2017 and later influenced policies regarding migrants at the US-Mexico border, including the controversial decision to separate family units.
During the election campaign, Miller often spoke just before the president-elect and stressed the detrimental impacts of the Biden-Harris administration’s border policies.
