President Donald Trump regretted Monday morning that the Mexican government is doing more to help the US stop illegal immigration than the Democrats in Congress.
& # 39; Now with our new deal, Mexico does more for the US on illegal immigration than the Democrats, & # 39; tweeted the president in reference to the deal he struck with Mexico last week.
& # 39; In fact, the Democrats do NOTHING, & # 39; he continued, & # 39; they want Open Borders, which means Illigal Immigration, Drugs and Crime. & # 39;
Democrats and Trump have long been arguing about the southern border, and in particular financing the president's promised border barrier.
In January there was a partial cessation of the government when they could not agree on an expense account with financing for the border wall.
President Donald Trump claimed that Mexico is now doing more to combat illegal immigration than democrats
Trump said Monday morning in a tweet that Democrats want open borders because he signed a deal with Mexico for the nation to help stop the flow of Central American migrants on the southern border
Trump declared a national emergency, citing that there was a humanitarian crisis on the southern border due to the high rates of crime, illegal immigration, drug trafficking and human trafficking.
Last month, Trump threatened to impose a 5 percent rate on Mexican imports if the southern neighbors didn't do anything to help stop illegal migration of Central American migrants to the US via Mexico.
He said that the tax on those goods would rise every month that the problem persisted until October, when it would reach a maximum of 25 percent.
The rate would have been imposed Monday, but Trump said he had made a deal with Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador to help the nation.
The deal, in part, according to a joint statement issued Friday after a meeting between Trump and Lopez Obrador, said that Mexico agreed to deploy its national guard throughout Mexico, prioritizing the southern border & # 39 ;.
Trump says that there is much more to the deal than what was outlined in the joint statement.
& # 39; We have fully signed and documented another very important part of the immigration and security agreement with Mexico, a document that the United States has been asking questions for years, & # 39; Trump announced Monday in two tweets.
In a few tweets, the president also said the deal requires a vote from the Mexican legislator in an effort to prove that there is more to the deal with Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador than was shared last week
President Donald Trump attacked CNN and the New York Times Saturday as & # 39; the enemy of the people & # 39 ;, after the Times published an article stating there was nothing new about Trump & # 39; s deal with Mexico
He called the article a & # 39; poorly reported hit job & # 39;
He also said that if Mexico did not maintain its share of the deal, the rates would still be implemented.
& # 39; It will be revealed in the not too distant future and will have to be voted by the legislature of Mexico! & # 39; he said. & # 39; We do not expect there to be a problem with the vote, but if the approval does not come for whatever reason, the rates will be restored! & # 39;
After Trump and Lopez Obrador had issued the joint statement, the New York Times published an article demanding the deal that Trump had devised months ago.
The president called the story & # 39; fake news & # 39; and insisted that the deal was brand new.
& # 39; When will the Falling New York Times admit that their front page news about the (new) deal in Mexico at the border is a FRAUD and nothing more than a poorly reported & # 39; hit job & on me, something that has happened since the first day i announced for the presidency! Sick Journalism, & # 39; he posted on Twitter.
The article was published Saturday night and on Sunday morning Trump resumed his attacks and called the media the & # 39; enemy of the people & # 39 ;.
Trump and Lopez Obrador made a joint statement last week stating that the Mexican government agreed to deploy its national guard throughout Mexico, prioritizing the southern border & # 39;
& # 39; Another fake report in the Failing @ nytimes & # 39 ;, Trump said about the report in a series of tweets. & # 39; We have been trying to get some of these border actions for a long time, just like other administrations, but could not get or receive them in full until our signed agreement with Mexico has been concluded. & # 39;
& # 39; The Failing @nytimes & ratings challenge @CNN, will do everything possible to see our country fail! They are really the enemy of the people! & # 39; Trump said.
Trump claimed that if his predecessor, Barack Obama, closed the deal he made with Mexico, the media would have a & # 39; national holiday & # 39; in his honor.
& # 39; If President Obama has made the deals that I have made, both on the border and for the economy, the corrupt media would regard them as incredible, and a national holiday would be announced immediately, & # 39; he tweets separately from his original thread.
& # 39; With me, despite our recordsetting Economy and all I have done, no credit! & # 39; he complained.
The article in the Times said sources noted that Mexico made a similar deal to that they made with Trump in March during discussions between the then Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen and the Mexican Home Secretary Olga Sanchez.
Trump opposed this report in his Twitter tirade.
In a four-two thread, Trump attacked CNN and the New York Times after the Times report was published. He said they would do everything possible to see that our country failed! & # 39;
& # 39; In addition, and for years, Mexico was not cooperative at the border in things we had, or did not have, and now I am confident, especially after speaking to their president yesterday that they will be very cooperative and wanting to get the job well done, & he continued in the thread.
He also gave an example that he discussed other issues with Lopez Obrador this week that were not announced in the press release and that would be shared if necessary.
The president also did not reject the idea of possibly imposing tariffs in the future, but said he did not think it would be necessary.
& # 39; It is important that some things that were not mentioned in yesterday's press release, especially one, were agreed. That will be announced at the right time, & he wrote.
& # 39; There is now going to be a great cooperation between Mexico and the US, something that did not exist for decades. However, if for some unknown reason this is not the case, we can always go back to our previous, highly profitable position of the rates – but I don't think that will be necessary. & # 39;
