Former President Donald Trump claimed that Vice President Kamala Harris “doesn’t like Jews,” even though her husband, first gentleman Doug Emhoff, is Jewish.
Trump was being interviewed by WABC’s Sid Rosenberg when he appeared to agree with the radio host, who used a horrendous slur against Emhoff by calling him a “fucking Jew.”
“You can see the disdain,” Trump said of Harris, his party’s presumptive nominee.
‘First of all, he doesn’t like Israel. Secondly, he doesn’t like the Jewish people. You know it, I know it, and everyone knows it, but nobody wants to say it.’
The incendiary comments came at a time of heightened tensions and military attacks between the Israel Defense Forces and Hezbollah, in a campaign in which the Biden administration has sparked protests over its military support for Israel.
Vice President Kamala Harris with her husband Doug Emhoff
Former President Donald Trump said Vice President Kamala Harris “doesn’t like Jews” and said “yes” after an interviewer called her Jewish husband, Doug Emhoff, “a f–king Jew.”
Trump claimed Harris “doesn’t like Jews,” despite her marriage to Emhoff, in comments that prompted a sharp rebuke from Harris’ campaign.
Rosenberg mentioned Emhoff, saying, “He’s Jewish, like Bernie Sanders. Are you kidding me?”
At that point, Trump can be heard saying, “Yes.”
“He’s a fucking Jew,” Rosenberg said.
“Yes,” Trump said again.
Rosenberg then added, without giving any explanation: “He is a horrible Jew.”
The comments prompted an immediate response from Harris’s campaign.
“America is better than the fear, hatred and despicable insults of Donald Trump,” Harris campaign spokesman James Singer said.
‘Vice President Harris believes that Americans want a president who unites our country rather than divides it, who uses the power of the presidency to lift families rather than harm them, and who has a vision for our future rather than taking us backwards.’
Trump made the incendiary comments in an interview with WABC
WASHINGTON, DC – APRIL 10: U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff arrive at the White House for a State Dinner on April 10, 2024 in Washington, DC.
Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung told DailyMail.com when asked about Rosenberg’s comments: “I obviously did not agree with that sentiment. In fact, Kamala has stoked anti-Israel hatred on college campuses with her dangerous and divisive rhetoric.”
On Friday, Trump made a similar claim about Harris’ dislike of Jews while speaking to a Christian group at a Turning Point USA meeting in Florida. He has also drawn criticism in the past for making similar comments about Jews, such as when he said in March that Jews who vote for Democrats “hate Israel” and hate “their religion.”
Emhoff, the first Jewish person to be the spouse of a nationally elected leader in the United States, has been one of the most visible members of the Biden administration in its talk of combating anti-Semitism. She hung mezuzahs on the doorposts of the vice president’s residence and led Passover celebrations at the White House.
Trump also attacked Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer, who is Jewish.
“Fifteen years ago, if you couldn’t say anything bad (about Israel), you were out of office. And today it’s almost as if… I mean, Schumer has become a Palestinian. Chuck Schumer is officially a Palestinian now,” Trump said.
Harris’ campaign said in a statement: “Donald Trump is hateful, despicable, and should not be our president. He is anti-America. He insults America. Why would we want to put him in charge of America? Donald Trump thinks he can score points with Jewish voters by denigrating them. He is wrong.”
