Trump says he will “never drop out” of the 2024 presidential race – WhatsNew2Day

Date:

Former President Donald Trump said on Tuesday he would “never” drop out of the presidential race even if he was convicted of a crime, telling Fox News’ Tucker Carlson that it was nothing.

During Tuesday’s sit-down in Mar-a-Lago, Carlson asked if there was anything prosecutors could legally throw at Trump that would persuade him to drop out of the 2024 White House race.

He said the former president was not there.

“No, I will never drop out.” “I will never drop out,” he replied. “It’s not something I wouldn’t do.”

Trump made the remarks after suggesting that President Joe Biden was the one who would bow.

The former president claimed that “something is wrong” with Biden, 80, though he added, “It’s not an age thing.”

“Look, I watch it just as much as you do. I think it’s almost unpleasant for me to say that — I don’t see how that’s possible — but something is wrong,” Trump told Carlson.

Trump reiterated that Biden wasn’t too old, and even complimented 81-year-old Sen. Bernie Sanders, a former Biden rival, saying he was “100 percent sharp.”

“I think they’re doing it because I’m four or five years late,” said the 76-year-old former president. Here’s a way to age Trump, they say, let’s call him aging.

“But something is wrong,” Trump said of Biden. Trump later added, “I don’t see Biden doing it physically or mentally, I just don’t see it.”

Trump referred to an interview Biden gave at the White House Easter Monday with Al Roker today.

I saw his answer today. on TV. About whether he will run or not. To a very nice guy named Al Roker. You can’t get a softer question than that. That was a long answer, we’re talking about whites and this and that, Trump said. “Look, I don’t think he can.”

Rucker spoke with Biden and first lady Jill Biden on the Truman balcony and asked the president if he plans to participate in Easter Egg Rolls after 2024.

“I plan on — at least three or four Easter egg rolls,” Biden replied. “Maybe five,” he continued, his childhood stutter a little apparent. “Maybe six, what the hell?”

Rucker asked if that meant Biden would run for re-election.

Biden replied, “I’ll be either the guy rolling the egg or the guy pushing them out.”

Then he explained.

“I plan to run, Al,” he said, “but we’re not ready to announce it yet.”

Trump also mocked Biden for not hosting a news conference about his trip this week to Ireland — something he pushed reporters over in the White House briefing room earlier this week.

“He is now in Ireland and will not be giving a press conference,” Trump said. “The world is exploding…the world is exploding around us. You could end up in a third world war and this guy would be in Ireland and he wouldn’t be giving a press conference.”

“He hasn’t had a press conference I think in months, I saw him today,” the former president added.

Then Carlson asked which Democrat would take Biden’s place at the top of the 2024 ballot.

“Obviously the person they’re going to talk about is going to be Vice President Kamala,” Trump said. ‘but I don’t think she’s ever performed well on the big stage.

“But there is a certain group of people who would go crazy if it wasn’t her,” Trump added, apparently referring to black voters.

Trump also noted the presence of a “very ambitious man” in California – Gov. Gavin Newsom. “But he did a terrible job with the country,” Trump said.

Carlson seemed surprised when Trump revealed that he and Newsom were cool.

‘I did. really did. He was always very nice to me. Greatest things said, Trump gushed.

In addition, Trump’s son Donald Trump Jr. is now engaged to Newsom’s first wife, Kimberly Guilfoyle.

Trump announced his intention to take back the White House in mid-November, immediately after the midterm elections, extending the already long presidential campaign timeline.

However, Biden has not yet officially announced his re-election campaign.

An Axios report last week quoted some Biden sources as saying it could come as late as this fall, while others believe he will announce sometime this summer.

Meanwhile, Trump is trying to make quick work of the GOP primary field — which has officially drawn Nikki Haley, former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson and Vivek Ramaswamy, but with Florida Gov. Ron DeAntis, former Vice President Mike Pence, and Sen. Tim Scott. and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo are all courting a bid.

At the same time, he is under increasing legal scrutiny, after being subpoenaed last week in New York 34 counts of felony falsifying business records in connection with $30,000 reward for janitor trying to sell information on child Trump allegedly fathered out of wedlock, $150,000 for ex Playboy model Karen McDougal And pay the sum of $130,000 to Porn star Stormy Daniels.

Trump is also under investigation by federal officials in New York, county officials in Georgia, and there are two Trump-related investigations being overseen by a special counsel.
