Donald Trump told a crowd of delighted Texans that he wants to move and retire in the Lone Star State as he continues his love affair with the South.
Speaking to an adoring crowd at the NRA National Convention, the former president said, “I want to move to Texas and I want to retire in Texas… a lot of people are moving to Texas.”
Trump made the comments after receiving an endorsement from the National Rifle Association in Dallas on Saturday.
While it is unclear whether Trump meant what he said, he has visited the southern state 18 times while in office and 13 times since losing the 2020 election.
Trump left New York during his presidency and moved to his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, which is also a tax haven.

The former commander in chief was greeted by Republican Gov. Greg Abbott, who told the crowd they needed to fire Biden and send Trump back to the White House.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton recently appeared at Trump’s ongoing hush money trial in New York City.
During his weekend visit to Texas, Trump revealed that Paxton is being considered as a possible US attorney general if he wins a second term in the White House.
He called Paxton ‘a very talented guy’ and praised his numerous lawsuits against the Biden Administration.

Paxton is also the subject of multiple criminal investigations and nearly lost his job after he was impeached by the Texas legislature, which is made up of members of the Republican Party.
During the impeachment trial, an affair came to light between Paxton and a woman named Laura Olson, who was involved in a quid pro-quo with a major Paxton donor.
Paxton is accused of accepting political donations from the donor in exchange for favors from the donor, such as giving his mistress a job.
The same allegations are the subject of a federal investigation by the FBI into Paxton.
If Trump were to become POTUS and appoint Paxton to the position, Paxton could run the same agency that is currently investigating him.
