President-elect Donald Trump has announced Brooke Rollins as his nomination for Secretary of Agriculture.
In a statement, Trump said Rollins, head of the America First Policy Institute, would “lead efforts to protect American farmers.”
If confirmed, Rollins would lead an agency with 100,000 employees and offices in every county in the country. The agency had a budget of $437.2 billion in 2024.
Trump said in a statement: “It is my great honor to nominate Brooke L. Rollins, from the great state of Texas, as the 33rd United States Secretary of Agriculture.
“Brooke has spent the past four years as founder and CEO of the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) and America First Works (AFW), building a team of loyal patriots and championing the policies of our America First Agenda.
“Brooke’s commitment to supporting the American farmer, defending America’s food self-sufficiency, and rebuilding America’s agriculture-dependent small towns is unparalleled.
“As our next Secretary of Agriculture, Brooke will lead efforts to protect America’s farmers, who are truly the backbone of our country.”

Rollins was considered for White House chief of staff before Susie Wiles was selected for the role, the newspaper said. Wall Street Journal.
The move comes as he continues to rapidly fill out his team, appointing Sebastian Gorka as his senior counter-terrorism director on Friday evening.
Gorka, 54, is a conservative commentator who spent less than a year in Trump’s first term in the White House.
‘Since 2015, Dr. Gorka a tireless advocate for the America First Agenda and the MAGA movement,” the president-elect wrote.
‘Dr. Gorka is a legal immigrant to the United States, with more than 30 years of national security experience,” Trump added.
Martin Makary has also been chosen by Trump as commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Makary is a Johns Hopkins surgeon and author who has advocated against pandemic lockdowns.
During the pandemic, he routinely appeared on Fox News and wrote opinion articles asking questions about masks for children.

If confirmed, Makary is expected to report to anti-vaccine activist Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Trump’s pick to oversee the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, which includes the FDA.
Makary does not share Kennedy’s discredited views on vaccines, but he harbors a similar distrust of the pharmaceutical industry.
He will need to be confirmed by the Republican-led Senate to take the post.
As nominations progressed, Trump named Janette Nesheiwat, a former Fox News contributor and physician in New York and New Jersey, as his nominee for surgeon general in his second administration.

He also tapped the Republican Congresswoman Lori Chavez-DeRemer of Oregon for the position of Secretary of Labor.

Weldon recently ran for a Florida state legislative seat and lost; Trump endorsed the other candidate to win.
He also spent many years as a Florida congressman and participated in one of the most heated debates of the 1990s over the quality of life and the right to die.
The case centered on whether Terri Schiavo, who was in a persistent vegetative state after cardiac arrest, should have had her feeding tube removed. He sided with the parents who did not want it removed.
Alex Wong was also named as deputy national security advisor. Wong worked on issues involving Asia during Trump’s first term and served as deputy special representative for North Korea.
“He helped negotiate my summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un,” Trump said in a statement.
