- Judge weighs whether to disqualify Willis in Georgia election interference case
Donald Trump went after special prosecutor Nathan Wade, suggesting he had “a lot” of sexual relationships with Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis as the former president criticized the criminal cases against him.
Wade and Willis’ previously undisclosed relationship is a central issue as a judge weighs whether to disqualify Willis from the Georgia election interference case, a decision that has the potential to derail the entire case against Trump.
At a rally in Greensboro, North Carolina, Trump attacked Wade by taking advantage of his lack of experience prosecuting crimes in Atlanta before he was tapped to lead the election interference case, saying “He never did that before.”
Trump then continued: ‘but he did something else before that he did with Fani, he did a lot of that.’ I guess that’s what he’s good at,” Trump continued as the crowd laughed.
Trump spoke in Greensboro, North Carolina, where he took aim at Fulton County Prosecutor Fani Willis for the cases against her and suggested that prosecutor Nathan Wade and Willis had “a lot” of sex.
The rally came just hours after Trump took to Truth Social to post about what he called Willis’ ‘SEXCAPADES.’
In Truth Social’s all-caps post Saturday morning, Trump wrote, “WHERE DID FANI GET ALL THAT CASH?” IN NO WAY HE PAID HIS LOVER OF HIM, THE “PROSECUTOR” NATHAN WADE. SHE INVENTED THE CASH STORY WHEN SHE REALIZED THAT HER “SEX CAPES” WERE PAID FOR BY THE PEOPLE OF GEORGIA. AGAIN, WHERE IS THE CASH AND WHERE DOES IT COME FROM?
He echoed her accusations during the rally, suggesting that Willis benefited financially from a romantic relationship with Wade after putting him on the case.
Willis has strongly rejected the allegations in court.
Hours later, at another rally in Richmond, Virginia, Trump continued to criticize the case and make insinuations about Willis and Wade’s relationship in an effort to undermine his credibility.
“Of course I didn’t have any experience, I had experience in something else,” Trump said before gesturing for sex as the crowd roared.
Trump held a rally in Richmond, Virginia, where he mocked Nathan Wade for his relationship with Fulton County Prosecutor Fani Willis.
A judge in Georgia is weighing the climate for disqualifying Fulton County Prosecutor Fani Willis over a relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade, whom she hired in the election interference case against Donald Trump.
The embattled Fulton County district attorney surprised the audience by sitting behind the prosecutor’s table, just a few seats away from her former lover.
Defense attorneys have been fighting to have Willis disqualified from Trump’s election interference case.
Lawyers for Trump’s co-defendants insist he should be barred from prosecuting the former president because he hired Wade after they began an “inappropriate” romantic relationship amid a series of stunning court appearances to address the issue.
On Friday, Judge Scott McAfee said he still had “several” legal issues to resolve and expected to have a decision on whether Fulton County prosecutors would be removed from the case within two weeks.
If Willis is removed from the case, it could delay Trump’s election fraud case in Georgia for months or the charges could end up being dropped.
It is one of several legal battles Trump is fighting as he tries to return to the White House. In total, the former president faces 91 criminal charges in four separate criminal cases.
If Trump is re-elected as president, there is a chance he could pardon himself or commute sentences in federal cases, but that would not apply to the Georgia case, since a president does not have the power to pardon state charges.
