Former President Donald Trump has scoffed at the potential $200,000 bail he faces when he plans to surrender for his fourth indictment on Thursday, joking he could visit the president instead Russian Vladimir Putin.
The former president and his 18 co-defendants were charged on August 14 with attempting to annul Georgia’s 2020 presidential election and were given Friday noon to surrender for booking.
On his Truth Social account on Monday, Trump mocked Fulton County DA Fani Willis after his bail was set at $200,000, refers to his friendship with Putin and what he called bogus accusations of collusion with Russia.
“Failing Fulton County (Atlanta) District Attorney Fani Willis insisted on getting $200,000 bond from me,” he wrote. “So I guess she thought I was an ‘escape’ risk – I’d fly away, maybe to Russia, Russia, Russia, share a gold-domed suite with Vladimir, not to never to be seen or heard from again.”
“Would I be able to get on my very ‘low-key’ plane with the gold TRUMP affixed for all to see. Probably not, I’d much better fly commercial – I’m sure no one would recognize me!

Trump will travel to Fulton County Jail in Atlanta on Thursday, he confirmed earlier Monday evening.
Sheriff’s deputies stepped up security on Monday, setting up barriers around the dilapidated jail, as Trump’s legal team was spotted entering Willis’ office.
Fulton County authorities said he could not expect any special treatment.
He will have to have his fingerprints taken like the other suspects at the notorious prison and could, for the first time, have his picture taken.
The prison is well known for its squalid conditions, although Trump is not being held there pending trial.
The infamous bug-infested facility is being investigated by the Department of Justice after a series of deaths.
Launching the investigation last month, U.S. Attorney Ryan K. Buchanan of the Northern District of Georgia said, “Recent allegations of substandard housing teeming with insects, rampant violence resulting in death and injury, and officers using excessive force are a cause for grave concern and warrant further investigation.
The defendants in the sprawling case are expected to negotiate their release and bail terms before being incarcerated in the county jail. It could be more than a week before they appear in court to enter a formal plea.

Details of Trump’s bail were among the first to be released as co-defendants reached settlements.
The “Consent Bail Order,” posted on the Fulton County Superior Court website, states that Trump “will not do anything to intimidate any person he knows to be a co-defendant or witness in this matter. or to otherwise interfere with the administration of justice.’
He adds that this will include “social media posts or reposts of posts made by another person on social media”.
Trump has denied any wrongdoing.
On Monday morning, before bail was agreed, he used his Truth social media platform to condemn Gov. Brian Kemp (another Republican) for failing to impeach Willis.
A few days earlier, Trump had been warned that he risked violating the conditions of his release in another case with “incendiary statements”.
He repeatedly spoke out against the “biased and unfair” judge overseeing the federal case accusing him of seeking to overturn the 2020 election, and used similar language against prosecutors and sometimes named witnesses.
Earlier it emerged that John Eastman, the attorney assigned to help orchestrate the former president’s fake voter scheme, had accepted $100,000 bail.

The document was signed by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, Trump’s defense team and Fulton Country Superior Court Judge Scott McAffee.

Court documents released on Monday show attorney John Eastman (left) agreed to a $100,000 bond deal and Scott Graham Hall agreed to a $10,000 settlement.
Scott Graham Hall has reached a bond agreement of $10,000. He is the local serf accused of commandeering voting information in Coffee County, southern Georgia. Atlanta News First reported the details.
Last week’s indictment was the fourth against Trump since April.
The latest case against Trump, who is the frontrunner for the Republican nomination in 2024, is laid out in a 98-page indictment.
It includes details of a phone call to the Georgian secretary of state urging him to find more votes for him and allegations that an election worker was harassed with false allegations of fraud.
In one of the most extraordinary examples of attempts to change the outcome, he describes an alleged plot to gain access to voting machines and steal data.
“The indictment alleges that, rather than complying with Georgia’s legal process for election challenges, the defendants engaged in a criminal racketeering enterprise to nullify the result of Georgia’s presidential election,” Willis said last week, announcing the charges.
She wants a speedy trial.
His proposed schedule would see the track debut on March 4, although that is certainly disputed by Trump and other defendants.
