Former President Donald taunted former GOP representative Barbara Comstock after she mocked him by saying most elected Republicans want him gone — waving an Oval Office photo showing the two of them together.

The former Northern Virginia legislator, who lost her seat in 2018 in a defeat her supporters blame for having Trump as head of the party, went after Trump in an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press” Sunday.

She criticized members of her own party for failing to support a committee to investigate the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, with Senate leader Mitch McConnell warning that the investigation could be political liability.

“I understand Republicans want to get away from Donald Trump. I mean, if Donald Trump disappeared tomorrow, I don’t think you’d have many Republicans in the quest, right?” she said.

“Maybe a few prosecutors, but no Republicans,” she joked, referring to New York prosecutors investigating the Trump organization. “So they want to leave him, but the problem is he won’t leave.”

The attack provoked a predictable response — with Trump smashing the legislature and coming up with receipts to show one of the past times Comstock was willing to hug him.

“RINO Former Virginia Congresswoman Barbara Comstock, who lost her race to someone she should have easily beaten, is now telling Republicans how to get elected,” Trump wrote from his Save America PAC.

“She had no problem being with me in the Oval Office, or if she needed anything.” He then attacked a group of persistent Trump critics.

“She and other RINO losers like Mitt Romney, Little Ben Sasse, Lisa Murkowski, Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger and Karl Rove are what’s really wrong with the Republican Party, not the big MAGA Republicans, Conservatives and Patriots!”

Sens. Romney, Sasse and Murkowski all supported Trump’s second impeachment. Comstock sided with Cheney in her bid to remain in the GOP leadership amid a campaign to push her out fueled by Trump.

Comstock aided a hitherto unsuccessful lobbying effort to conduct a bipartisan investigation on Jan. 6.

“But this isn’t about Democrats or Republicans. It’s about the country, and it’s about finding out the truth, and it’s about protecting the Capitol, the people who work there, and also making sure that this never happens again.” happens,” she told NBC.
