Donald Trump surprisingly praised President Biden's comeback speech in North Carolina after his disastrous debate performance in a post on Truth Social

In a surprising move, Donald Trump had something nice to say about President Biden’s comeback speech in North Carolina after his disastrous debate performance.

Biden appeared much more energetic and virile the day after failing in Thursday night’s debate, when Trump told Truth Social that he “seemed to be coming out of his trance.”

“His speech on Friday was better… but America must ask itself, with all the dangers around us, do we really want a president who chokes? I don’t think so!” he added.

It comes as Biden responded to the New York Times after the outlet asked him to step aside from the presidential race, pointing out that he won in 2020 without the publication’s support in that election either.

In his Truth Social post, Trump took the opportunity to criticize Biden’s debate performance, admitting that “strange things happen in big politics.”

‘During my debate Thursday night with corrupt Joe Biden, the worst president in the history of our country, and the person who is trying to imprison me illegally and strictly for political purposes, I saw a man, firsthand,’ Drowning “under tremendous pressure, the likes of which I have never seen before,” Trump wrote.

‘The strain of lawlessness being used by his “Injustice” Department, the FBI, local Attorneys General and district attorneys, has placed additional strain on him.

‘FAKE NEWS CNN just announced that with 51.3 million viewers, it was the highest-rated show in CNN history, and that doesn’t include other places it was shown.’

Trump implied that the “monstrous” audience on debate night affected Biden, as he said the pressure “could be felt clearly and openly on the stage.”

“His speech on Friday was better and he seems to be coming out of his trance, but America must ask itself, with all the dangers surrounding him, do we really want a president who drowns? I don’t think so!” the article concluded.

Many debate observers felt Trump emerged victorious thanks to having more energy and vigor compared to Biden, even as a series of lies and falsehoods went unchecked.

Trump and Biden held competitive rallies the day after Friday’s debate, and the president’s event in North Carolina made headlines because of Biden’s apparent greater energy.

The president used the rally to calm widespread concerns, as some of his closest allies, including Obama, publicly backed him despite admitting his performance was poor.

“I know I’m not a young man. It’s obvious,” Biden said alongside first lady Jill, who was wearing a Christian Siriano dress with the word “vote” written on it.

‘Friends, I no longer walk as easily as before. I don’t speak as fluently as I used to. I don’t debate as well as I used to.

But I know what I know: I know how to tell the truth. I know right from wrong. And I know how to do this job. I know how to get things done,’ the president argued.

“I give you my word as Biden. I would not run again if I didn’t believe with all my heart and soul that I could do this job,” he said.

Biden’s campaign apparently took a hit after the debate when the New York Times editorial board publicly called on him to drop out of the presidential race.

The Times previously jointly endorsed two Democratic presidential candidates, Amy Klobuchar and Elizabeth Warren, in 2020 instead of Biden.

But despite being ignored by the prestigious newspaper, Biden would go on to win his party’s nomination and defeat Trump in November 2020.

On Friday, the Times editorial board wrote that Biden is “not the man he was four years ago” and criticized his justification for running, saying it was a “reckless gamble.”

A senior adviser to the president told CNN: “The last time Joe Biden lost the endorsement of the New York Times editorial board, he did pretty well.”
