Donald Trump’s campaign team sparked unintentional hilarity after performing the Titanic theme song at a rally in Montana on Friday.
Celine Dion could be heard singing her 1998 classic My Heart Will Go On over speakers in Bozeman shortly before Trump took the stage.
The epic ballad that conjures images of a doomed ship crashing into a giant iceberg was played just hours after Trump’s plane was forced to divert to Billings while en route to Bozeman due to a “mechanical issue.”
Some political pundits on social media felt the song was a metaphor for the flagging momentum of Trump’s campaign, which comes just weeks after his victory in November seemed all but assured.
One even suggested there could be a “pro-Kamala Harris” spy secretly working to undermine Trump’s re-election.

The former president’s plane was forced to divert to Billings while en route to an event in Bozeman due to a “mechanical issue” on Friday.
“Sounds like a sinking ship’s cry for help. Has anyone checked on his campaign managers? Are they being held hostage or perhaps waterboarded?” said another.
Many people noted the irony in the theme song of a disaster movie being played at the event.
“Trump says he will sink like the Titanic,” said one person. “The irony is not lost on me,” said another.
“How fitting, because the Trump campaign right now is like the Titanic. Everyone is at the bar drinking and telling themselves the ship isn’t sinking,” a third person said.
One person created a meme movie poster recreating a scene from James Cameron’s 1997 film featuring Trump and Vance, with the caption: “Collides with failure. This November.”
“Bro, the Trump campaign keeps making money. These are real life SNL skits. Who the hell plays a song that is famously associated with a sinking ship at a sinking campaign rally?” one person said.
“Is the Titanic metaphor a bit of a stretch or what?” said another.
Others questioned whether the Canadian singer gave Trump’s team permission to play her song.
“Celine seems like a really kind and compassionate legend, but you know she’s just on her couch at home saying ‘Yeah, fuck no!’ in French,” one person said.
“Can’t have Celine Dion, sorry,” a second person said.
“Celine Dion, are you getting paid for this? You might want to call your lawyer. There’s a payday waiting for you right here,” said another.
Trump remains on the warpath for a second term as president in November, but his seemingly insurmountable lead over Democrats has narrowed dramatically in recent weeks.
Earlier this week, his daughter-in-law and senior adviser Lara Trump reportedly sat down with him and told him the race with Harris is currently on the brink.
Trump is reportedly considering rehiring his 2016 campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway, in hopes that she can repeat the success of that campaign.
His vice presidential pick, JD Vance, has been embroiled in a number of controversies, including a sneer at “childless cat ladies” like Kamala Harris that managed to offend voters of all stripes.
Joe Biden’s exit from the race led to Vice President Kamala Harris being nominated as his replacement. Her campaign quickly generated considerable momentum and raised huge amounts of money, and Trump’s team is said to have been surprised by its initial success.
Experts say Harris is enjoying a honeymoon period among Democratic voters relieved that Biden, 81, is out of the picture, and say she is no stranger to the kinds of gaffes that could derail a presidential campaign.

She has yet to give a proper interview about her candidacy, and many Republicans expect undecided voters to turn against Harris once they get to know her better.
Trump also spent part of the week defending himself against criticism over a news story in which he claimed to have nearly been involved in a helicopter crash with former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown.
On Friday night, he was accused of confusing Brown with another black lawmaker, former California state senator Nate Holden.
Holden told Politico that he and Trump nearly collided in a helicopter in 1990, saying: “Willie is the short black guy who lives in San Francisco. I’m a tall black guy who lives in Los Angeles.”
Laughing at the story, he added jokingly: “I guess we all look alike.”
Dion and her husband, René Angélil, frequently dined at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago in the 1990s.
She was a fan of French chef Bernard Goupy, especially his signature Caesar salad prepared in an edible cheese bowl.
But one day, Trump decided he wasn’t making a proper Caesar salad, made the salad himself, and fired Goupy.
However, Celine quickly hired Goupy to be her chef at her Jupiter, Florida, property.
