Donald Trump is heading to DC for his inauguration, boarding a government plane with his wife Melania and son Barron to kick off days of festivities.

Trump waved from the top of the stairs after boarding what will likely be his last flight before taking the oath of office on Monday.

Close family members jetted off to DC aboard the newly elected president’s famous red, white and blue plane as the family prepared to attend the balls, dinners and rallies that will fill Trump’s inaugural schedule.

Daughter Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner, along with daughter Arabella and sons Joseph and Theodore, crossed the West Palm Beach tarmac to board Trump’s customized 757 minutes for president-elect.

Ivanka, wearing a blue dress, held Theodore’s hand as they prepared to get the Trump party started. Ivanka and Jared were both active in Trump’s tumultuous first term but have largely disappeared from the spotlight.

Now Ivanka’s father is heading to the Capitol in a remarkable turnaround after skipping Joe Biden’s inauguration four years ago, days after the January 6 riots. After surviving assassination attempts, winning the election and seeing the criminal cases against him collapse, he is now returning to DC with new powers after promising to carry out a series of actions on his first day on the job.

A plane with the U.S. government logo was also parked on the tarmac, indicating that the president-elect would take the executive plane used for Vice President Kamala Harris and other dignitaries.

“The President and First Lady now leave Mar-a-Lago for Washington, DC, on a great journey of success for our country!” wrote Trump’s press secretary Karoline Leavitt on X, posting an emoji with the American flag.

President Joe Biden will fly to Charleston on Sunday aboard Air Force One.

Trump is already considering policy proposals ahead of his inauguration Monday, amid an Arctic explosion hitting D.C. and parts of the country.

He defended Friday’s decision to move the inauguration indoors amid forecasts of cold temperatures and gusty winds.

‘Well, I feel great. “I think we made the right decision, weather-wise – the weather looked really bad in terms of the cold, and I think it would have been dangerous for a lot of people, the crowds and everything else,” said Trump to NBC.

“So I think we made the right decision. We’ll be very comfortable now, and everyone will, you know, we – we’ve avoided the weather problem. The weather problem looks pretty serious, the polar front is coming.”

The decision will deprive Trump of the chance to be photographed in front of thousands of people who would have gathered at the mall — though it would spare him fights over crowd size if people choose to stay home amid the freezing weather.

Trump also spoke about his plans for mass deportations, amid press reports that the crackdown will begin Tuesday in Democratic-leaning Chicago.

“Well, it has to happen, and if it doesn’t happen, we won’t have a country anymore,” Trump said.

“These are rough, tough criminals, and they will destroy our country. And if we don’t do it, and if we don’t do it soon, you won’t have any land left,” he said, denying saying where it would start.

“And by the way, I read in the Times, the little town outside of San Francisco, that the crime rate there is unbelievable,” he said, with one clue.

‘I can’t say which cities, because things evolve. And I don’t think we want to say which city. You will see it firsthand,” Trump said.

Trump will set off fireworks at his golf club in Virginia. There will also be a Cabinet reception and dinner for Vice President J.D. Vance.

These events will ensure that the bigwigs can give impetus to the party even as the mass event was called off.

Trump’s team is trying to stage a version of his parade at DC’s Capitol One arena on Monday in place of the outdoor event.
