“The mayor’s efforts to protect illegal aliens endanger the lives of the public and law enforcement officials who must enter the field to arrest the released,” Trump said in his tweet. “He should not insist on illegal immigrants to defeat the system, he should encourage them to report safely!”

Garcetti’s post states that the city and police are not coordinating with ICE or participating in immigration enforcement and contain a video that was first shared before ICE raids in 10 cities in 2019.

“Regardless of their immigration status, I want every Angeleno to know their rights and how to exercise them,” Garcetti said. ‘Don’t forget that you have the right to remain silent. You do not have to open your door for an ICE agent without an order signed by a judge. You have the right to speak to a lawyer before you sign documents or speak to the police. ”

Garcetti encouraged residents to ‘keep track of everything that happens’.

“Pay attention to the name and badge number of an officer when and where you will be interrogated so that you can use that information for your own defense,” he said.

The mayor also said in the video: “I want you to know, you don’t have to be afraid. Your city is on your side, and rest assured, here in Los Angeles we don’t coordinate with ICE. ”

Chief Moore then told the viewer that the department “in no way helps ICE.”

“We will not enforce immigration laws that are of a civilian nature and that fall under the justification of the federal government. Immigration is a federal issue. Security is a police matter and we’re not going to mix the two, “Moore added.

The Trump administration has been set up to deploy highly trained border patrol officers to stimulate arrests of unauthorized immigrants in a number of cities, the final step in a fight against “sanctuary” policies to protect them from deportation

The Trump administration will deploy highly trained border patrol officers to encourage arrests of unauthorized immigrants in a number of cities, the final step in a fight against places of “sanctuary” policy to protect them from eviction.

Members of the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Border Patrol Tactical Unit (BORTAC) will be among the officers deployed in cities to assist immigration and customs enforcement or ICE.

The BORTAC teams are heavily armed units that are comparable to police SWAT teams.

They are being sent to New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Atlanta, Houston, Boston, New Orleans, Detroit and Newark, New Jersey, said CBP spokesperson Lawrence Payne Friday in a statement.

BORTAC agents undergo a ‘comprehensive’ training program designed to ‘reflect’ aspects of American Special Operation Forces courses, according to details about the program published on the CBP website. The unit was launched in 1984 in response to riots in immigration detention centers.
