As time draws closer to announcing Donald Trump’s running mate, DailyMail.com can reveal that no one has yet been offered the job.
The party’s convention in Milwaukee is expected to reveal the name of the former president’s vice presidential pick on Monday.
But a source familiar with the process said late Monday morning: “No one has been offered it yet.”
Experts say he has narrowed the possibilities down to three: Sen. JD Vance of Ohio, Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida or Gov. Doug Burgum of North Dakota.
Fox News host Bret Baier said the president had told him he would announce his decision today.
Trump arrived in Milwaukee on Sunday night for the Republican National Convention.
But Trump is well known for making last-minute decisions and keeping his audience guessing.
At the same time, he must decide whether to re-examine the process after the shocking events of Saturday, when he was nearly killed by an assassin’s bullet.
Would Vance’s hardline MAGA rhetoric become less palatable amid Trump’s own calls for unity?
Are Rubio’s decades in politics and knowledge of the Senate more useful?
Would Burgum’s experience leading a state make him better suited to take over the top job if an assassin were to succeed?
Or could Trump throw a curveball, choosing a candidate from his long list, such as Rep. Byron Donalds or Sen. Tim Scott? Or could he be considering an entirely new name?
The vice presidential nominee is scheduled to address the convention on Wednesday.
Trump has reportedly expressed enthusiasm for North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum in recent weeks.
But she has also noted Sen. JD Vance’s recent weight loss and commented on how good he looks in suits now. “He’s a very handsome son of a bitch,” she told insiders.

And Trump will close the quadrennial celebration a day later, after being crowned the candidate for the November elections.
He has repeatedly dismissed the idea that he would pick someone who could help him win the election by targeting a region or demographic.
Instead, he said he would choose someone who could take over if necessary.
“You need someone who can be good just in case, or someone horrible just in case,” he said in May.
In a sign of how Saturday’s shooting changed things, Trump said he had rewritten his convention speech to take into account the new political environment.
“The speech I was going to give on Thursday was going to be spectacular,” he said. Washington Examiner.
‘If this had not happened, this would have been one of the most incredible speeches directed primarily at President Joe Biden’s policies.
“Honestly, it will be a totally different speech now,” he added.
