Donald Trump's campaign claimed that Iran did

Donald Trump has come out and claimed that Iran has made “real and specific threats” to assassinate him.

The Republican presidential candidate’s campaign made the claim Tuesday night, in a statement that described the plans as “an effort to destabilize and sow chaos in the United States.”

The newsletter was sent by Trump campaign communications director Steven Cheung and claimed that the former commander-in-chief had already been briefed on the alleged plot.

This comes days after investigators discovered that Iranian “malicious cyber actors” sent emails to associates of President Biden’s campaign with information “taken from stolen, non-public Trump campaign materials” over the summer.

This also follows two failed assassination attempts against the second-term presidential hopeful, the most recent of which occurred this month.

Donald Trump’s campaign said Iran made “real and specific threats” to assassinate him on Tuesday night.

“President Trump was briefed today by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence on specific and real threats from Iran to assassinate him in an effort to destabilize and sow chaos in the United States,” Cheung’s bulletin began.

‘Intelligence officials have identified that these ongoing, coordinated attacks have increased in recent months, and law enforcement officials across all agencies are working to ensure that (he) is protected and that the election is free from interference.

“Make no mistake, Iran’s terrorist regime loves Kamala Harris’ weakness and is terrified of President Trump’s strength and resolve,” the senior Trump official continued.

“He won’t let anything stop him or stand in his way of fighting for the American people and making America great again.”

The statement did not offer any details about the assassination plot, and has yet to be corroborated by the government.

Iran – home of the anti-Israel group Hezbollah – has previously denied all allegations of meddling in US affairs.

But last week, several federal agencies discovered that hackers in the country had sent emails containing stolen Trump campaign material to people involved in Biden’s re-election campaign.

This is a developing story; please check back for updates.
