Trump claims that interview transcripts show that Adam Schiff “ had long known there was no Russian collusion ”
Donald Trump promoted a Wall Street Journal on Tuesday stating that Congressman Adam Schiff knew from the start that there was no evidence that the President was working with Russia
“Newly released documents show that Schiff had known all along that there was no evidence of collusion between Russia and Trump.” Wall Street Journal, “Trump tweeted with a quote from the subhead of the op-ed.
The Wall Street Journal published the opinion on Tuesday entitled ‘All the Adam Schiff Transcript’, where the editors claimed ‘no one should ever believe another word’ from Schiff’s mouth.
“Americans expect politicians to lie, but sometimes the examples are so bold that they deserve special attention,” the opinion said. “The recently released Congressional testimonials show that for three years Adam Schiff blatantly spread lies about Russia and Donald Trump, while his own committee gathered conflicting evidence.”
Schiff is the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, who investigated possible collusion between Trump and Russia in the 2016 elections.
Donald Trump praised a Wall Street Journal on Wednesday in which editors slapped Adam Schiff for knowing there were no collusion between the President and Russia, but still pretended
The intelligence chairman constantly teased in the media that he had done something wrong, but said he could not share the details, but Journal’s editorial board now claims:[N]o one must ever believe another word that he says’
The commission’s investigation, which began in January 2017 under then-chairman Devin Nunes, concluded in March 2018 that Trump did not coordinate with Russia to convince Hillary Clinton in his attempt to become president.
The opinion claiming that Schiff actually knew there was no evidence that the president had done anything wrong emerged last week when the Intelligence Commission published 57,600 pages of 57 different interviews with witnesses in the Russian probe.
Copies of the interview were due to be released a while ago after the Intelligence Commission voted to make them public in September 2018, but was delayed by Schiff.
This week, National Intelligence Acting Director Richard Grenell told the Intelligence Commission that the documents were ready for release following a lengthy inter-agency classification check.
Between the time the House voted to release and release the documents, Special Counsel Robert Mueller released the report on Russia and Trump was impeached – also under Schiff’s leadership.
The California Democrat has claimed since the start of his investigation that there was evidence behind the scenes that there was collusion and that he would tease that he could not “go into details.”
“The Russians offered help, the campaign accepted help,” Schiff told CNN in December 2017. “The Russians provided help, and the President took full advantage of that help.”
But the Journal claims, “This was all untrue, and Mr. Schiff knew it.”
In a case of conflicting testimonials, former National Intelligence director James Clapper told Schiff and the panel of legislators in December 2017 that he “ has never seen direct empirical evidence that the Trump campaign or anyone in it is conspiring / plotting with the Russians to interfere in the elections. ‘
Former Barack Obama attorney general Loretta Lynch agreed in her testimony about three months later.
“I don’t remember anything I was told.” Former Deputy AG Sally Yates confirmed.
Documents from the 57 different witness interviews were finally released last week by Acting Director of U.S. National Intelligence Richard Grenell
When Grenell decided to finally enforce the release of the documents, Schiff said he was relieved and blamed the delay in Trump’s administration.
“These transcripts should have been released long before, but the White House kept their release to the public open by refusing to let the intelligence community conduct editorials based on secret information rather than White House political interests,” said Schiff last week.
“Only now, and during a deadly pandemic, has the President released this damning information and evidence,” he continued.
Ultimately, this pattern of misconduct and deception continued when President Trump again tried to force a foreign government to give him illicit help in his reelection campaign, this time from Ukraine. For his efforts, President Trump was impeached in the House and became the first US president to receive two-part votes to convict in the Senate, “Schiff wrote in his statement.
Journal’s editorial team didn’t buy it and urged its media colleagues to stop giving Schiff a platform.
“He’s still making it up,” it blamed Schiff’s ongoing claims against the president. Last week, he said the transcripts “contain evidence of the Trump campaign’s efforts to invite, use and cover up Russia’s aid in the 2016 presidential election.”
“The question we would ask our friends in the media is when they stop playing the fool by putting him on the air? Mr. Schiff is a powerful figure with access to secrets that the rest of us don’t have and can’t control. He has repeatedly misled the country on an issue that has consumed American politics, “the opinion said.
The conclusion: “As for Mr. Schiff, no one should ever believe another word he says.”
