The future of free-to-air television in Australia is at stake.
In recent years, 34 different programs from channels seven, nine and ten have been eliminated or quietly disappeared from the television schedule. Yahoo Lifestyle reports.
Ten’s The Bachelor and The Masked Singer, both presented by Osher Günsberg, have no plans to return to screens anytime soon.
The Bachelors and its various spinoffs have not been given 2024 dates despite being announced at the annual Upfronts.
Meanwhile, The Masked Singer is understood to be expensive to produce due to the elaborate costumes, high production quality and international talent required to put on the show.

Nine game shows Millionaire Hot Seat and Australian Ninja Warrior have also been scrapped due to declining audiences.
The network also launched new shows, including Shaynna Blaze’s Country Home Rescue and Kate Langbroek’s My Mum, Your Dad, but they were also axed.
Celebrity Apprentice and Beauty and the Geek are also among the shows not returning to Nine screening this year.

A source told Yahoo that breaks between TV jobs are “getting longer.”
“Every year, the breaks between jobs are getting longer to the point that many of us (the team) are leaving the industry,” they said.
‘Ten years ago, we were constantly booking jobs 12 months in advance for all the networks, now everyone is scrambling to try to get on a three-day pilot shoot. It’s all so uncertain.’
