Wheelchair-bound woman is seriously injured after a truck drives up the sidewalk and hits her – before bystanders pin the driver
Bystanders have chased a truck driver who reportedly hit a Sydney footpath and hit an 87-year-old woman in a wheelchair.
According to the NSW police, the 34-year-old driver fled after his small truck hit a traffic light on King Street in Newtown and hit the older woman on Tuesday morning.
The man was chased by several passers-by who held him before he was arrested by police officers.
He was taken to the hospital for mandatory tests. The 87-year-old was also taken to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a serious condition.
