Eric Trump has received guidance from his animal-loving wife, Lara, and encourages his fans to adopt dogs from shelters instead of buying them in stores.
The 36-year-old, who has had to deal with heavy recoil due to the hunt big-game animals in Africa, went to Instagram on Sunday to share a heart-warming video of the rescue dog from his family licking Ben, his five-month-old daughter, Carolina.
“This is proof of what unconditional love can do – the video today is Ben, part of our family, who feels loved and so happy every day,” he wrote.
Look of love: Eric Trump went to Instagram on Sunday to share a sweet video of the rescue dog of his family that kissed Ben his daughter Carolina
Adopt, don’t shop: in his caption, he shared his love for Ben and argued for adopting dogs from shelters rather than buying them in stores
The clip shows Lara, 37, holding onto Carolina while Ben rested his head on her shoulders. In the background Eric can hear the dog tell him to give the baby girl ‘kisses’, and he happily commits himself.
“Ben loves you so much. Do you love Ben? “Lara asks their only daughter. “Thanks, Ben,” she adds while the dog keeps licking them.
Eric also posted photos of Ben before they cherished him and wrote: “The photos were Ben before he came to us. He was abused, forgotten and thrown into a hiding place to die.
“We could never have guessed the love and joy Ben would bring to our family four years ago, and we wouldn’t trade it for the whole world,” he added, with the hashtags “#AdoptDontShop” and “#RescueDogsRock. ”
So sad: he also placed photos of Ben covered with scab immediately after being rescued, explaining that the stray dog was “abused, forgotten and thrown into a hiding place to die”
Making a difference: Eric and his wife Lara signed up to support Ben, but eventually they permanently included him in their family
Things are going well: Ben has fully recovered over the past three years and Lara often shares a picture of him playing with her two-year-old son, Luke
The lost beagle was so sick when he was taken to the city of San Antonio Animal Care Services in April 2016 that he had to stay for a month in an animal clinic.
The poor dog was covered with scabies to the point that most of his fur had disappeared, leaving his rough, painful, pink skin visible.
When Ben was finally ready to leave, he was picked up by a Rescue Dogs Rock NYC, a rescue group in New York. From there the dog happily went to Eric and Lara, who agreed to care for him.
The couple, who also have a beagle named Charlie, fell in love with the dog and decided to make him a permanent member of their family in May 2016.
Party of six: Eric and Lara also have a beagle named Charlie (back), and the dogs often appear on their family photos
Hard to handle: Eric is confronted with kickbacks for hunting big game after taking pictures of him and his brother Don Jr. who went viral with their trophy murders in Africa
Defense: President Trump defended his sons online in January 2016 after photos of the brothers posing with their trophies
Angry: Earlier this month, animal rights activists organized protests outside Eric and Lara’s apartment building in New York City as part of the 2020 Global Rally against trophy hunting
Lara, an animal rights activist, pays homage to Ben every year on the anniversary of his adoption, and she often shares photos of their dogs playing with their two year old son, Luke.
The mother of two co-chaired the second annual Rescue Dogs Rock gala with Georgina Bloomberg in October, just a month before her father, former New York mayor, Michael Bloomberg, took part in the 2020 presidential election.
Lara’s immense love for animals is at odds with Eric’s passion for trophy hunting, and earlier this month dozens of animal rights activists stepped up protests outside their apartment complex in New York City as part of the 2020 global rally against trophy hunting.
The protesters also stopped at Eric’s elder brother Donald Trump Jr. shares with his girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle, who often goes hunting with him.
All smiles: on February 14, Lara shared a black and white photo of herself with her husband in honor of Valentine’s Day
‘Oreos for two’: on Sunday she posted a sweet snapshot of Luke who had a date with her friend Amanda Kennedy’s daughter Grace
President Donald Trump defended the interest of his oldest sons in hunting big game after images of those posing with their trophies – including an elephant and jaguar – became viral.
‘My sons love hunting. They are very proud members of the NRA. I strongly support the second amendment, “he said at a press conference in January 2016.
“My sons are hunters. Eric is a hunter and I would say that he is in line with golf, if not for golf. My other son, Don, is a hunter. They are great sniper, great photos, they love them. ”
While Eric paid tribute to their dog this weekend, Lara shared a black and white photo of herself with her husband in honor of Valentine’s Day.
On Sunday she posted a sweet snapshot of Luke who had a play date with her friend Amanda Kennedy’s daughter Grace.
“Oreos for two,” she wrote with the image, showing the two friends eating cookies at the table in Grace’s playroom.
