An Arizona woman has been indicted by a Maricopa County grand jury on fraud and extortion charges involving former Cy Young winner Trevor Bauer and another man, although the exact allegations remain unclear at this time.
That woman, Darcy Adanna Esemonu, was charged last month with allegations that she “knowingly obtained a benefit from Marco Bresciant and Trevor Anthony Bauer, through fraudulent pretenses, representations, promises or material omissions,” according to the indictment submitted to DailyMail.com . Esemonu faces up to 16 years in prison if he is convicted of all charges.
Esemonu does not have a criminal lawyer in this case. DailyMail.com reached out to another attorney representing Esemonu in her ongoing sexual assault lawsuit against Bauer in Arizona, but has not yet heard back.
She is not the same woman who accused Bauer of sexual assault in 2021, leading to his suspension and subsequent exile from Major League Baseball.
Bauer responded to news of Esemonu’s accusation on YouTube by claiming that she demanded $3.6 million from him for allegedly pressuring her to have an abortion, a claim he denies on multiple levels.

“But here’s the thing: She never had an abortion, because she was never even pregnant, and that’s corroborated by her own medical records,” Bauer said. “When I refused to pay her the $3.6 million she requested, she made up a false sexual assault claim and filed a civil lawsuit against me.”
According to Bauer’s explanation in his five-minute YouTube clip, the two had a sexual encounter, which he insists was initiated by her.
“We had a simple sexual encounter in December 2020, nothing that could be considered remotely rough,” he said. “She started it, but don’t take my word for it, take hers.”
Bauer then proceeds to share alleged electronic communications between the two.
“This is a photo and a text message he sent me the next morning explaining why he approached me,” she said. And for months afterward, she repeatedly asked me to sleep with me again. For example, this text, from January 7, 2021. At one point he even asked me for a sample of my sperm so he could “have my child whenever I wanted” in the future.
According to Bauer’s explanation in his five-minute YouTube clip, the two had a sexual encounter, which he insists was initiated by Esemonu (pictured).
Bauer shared a grip, claiming it was sent to him by Esemonu and adding that it hurts his case.
Throughout his YouTube clip, Bauer continues to link Esemonu’s lawsuit to one previously filed (and dismissed) by accuser Lindsey Hill.
“It’s hard to keep track of, but she has made at least four seven-figure lawsuits in the last few years,” he said. “More than a year after the only time we slept together, and only after Lindsey Hill made up the false accusations against her, Adanna hired a lawyer.”
Bauer was previously placed on administrative leave and suspended by Major League Baseball following allegations of sexual assault by Hill, who was sued by the pitcher for defamation and then countersued him over her sexual assault allegations.
Bauer was never charged with any crime in this case and has maintained his innocence, although he insisted that Hill was planning to blackmail him.
An alleged text message sent by Hill to a friend, which Bauer previously revealed, reads: ‘Next victim. Dodgers star pitcher.
Bauer previously claimed that she made the statement about him being her “next victim” in a text message that was sent “before she even met me” and that she was advised to “take his money.”

While Hill acknowledged that “victim” was not the correct word, he claimed that he used it jokingly, primarily due to his history of dating baseball players. (He has also been linked to San Diego Padres slugger Fernando Tatis Jr.)
“This was exactly what Trevor wanted to do: randomly pick three or four texts and weave them into a narrative in which I look horrible,” she said on “Prime Time with Alex Stein.”
Esemonu is also accused of defrauding another man. He faces up to 16 years in prison.
‘I explained that in my statement and random things. I like to joke, I am very sarcastic, sometimes inappropriate. Anyone who knows me will know this.
Two unidentified women also accused Bauer of sexual assault, but he dismissed their allegations in Tuesday’s YouTube clip.
“Both had lawyers first demand more than $3 million to ‘not make it public,'” he said. ‘In both cases, only after I refused to pay any sum of money did their lawyers make anonymous complaints in the media. They both had the opportunity to file a criminal complaint against me. Neither of them did. They both had the opportunity to file a civil lawsuit against me. They both had the opportunity to participate in the civil lawsuit. Lindsey Hill against me. They could even have done it anonymously. They both refused.
As for Esemonu, Bauer accuses her of being a con artist who accuses men of sexual assault to obtain income.
“His modus operandi is clear,” he said. ‘She lies to men to get their money. Blackmail them if necessary. When they refuse to pay, stop paying you, or stop giving you what you want, you go to the police, accuse them of sexual assault, and file a civil suit to retaliate.’
Esemonu’s next court date is April 26. His civil case against Bauer does not currently have another hearing scheduled.
