Travis Kelce suffered a serious bout of imposter syndrome after meeting Prince William earlier this year, his mother Donna has revealed.
Kelce met HRH at one of his girlfriend Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour shows at Wembley Stadium over the summer, with the trio and William’s children, Prince George, 11, and Princess Charlotte, of 9, posing together for a famous selfie backstage after the concert.
Three months after her NFL star son’s royal meeting, Donna, 71, remembers Travis telling her that crossing paths with Prince William was “one of the coolest things.”
However, he also spoke about his modest reaction to being in the company of such a high-profile figure.

donna said Extra on Travis’ thoughts on meeting Prince William: “He said, ‘When you meet people like that, you know when the royals come in or Paul McCartney or Hugh Grant… someone’s in the suite, and you’re like, ‘Does that happen?’ who in this photo? Doesn’t it fit? Why am I here and why am I even allowed to talk to these people? “It just doesn’t seem right to me.”
Then he added: “But I think he’s handling it pretty well, he’s a pretty friendly guy.”
Travis also discussed his interaction with the English Prince on his New Heights podcast over the summer.
“Dude, he was the coolest son of a bitch,” he told his brother Jason. ‘He was amazing. “It was an absolute pleasure to meet you.”
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end also admitted that he didn’t know how to greet Prince William and his children when they met.
“(I) wasn’t sure if I was supposed to bow, bow, just be an American idiot and shake their hand,” he added.
Despite being one of the best tight ends in football history, Kelce’s profile has skyrocketed since he started dating Swift last year.
Donna revealed that her NFL star son couldn’t believe he was in such a high-profile company.
The 71-year-old revealed Travis’ romance with Taylor Swift in a recent interview.
She admitted that he loves the extra attention that comes with dating pop megastar Swift.
The couple have become one of the most famous celebrity couples on the planet over the past 12 months, and Donna says her son loves the extra attention.
“He’s always been someone who’s in the spotlight. He loves the attention. I mean it, he’s always dancing, always joking, always having fun… he just loves life,” she revealed.
‘It just seems like his life is on a trajectory that increases every day. Every time I turn around I see him doing something different, whether it’s on the golf course, at a concert or whatever, he’s just having his best life right now.”
While he loves life off the field, Kelce is having a tough time right now after getting off to his worst start to an NFL season.
The 34-year-old has just eight receptions for 69 yards in Kansas City’s first three games of the season, his lowest return over a three-game stretch.
