Travis Kelce has opened the door to playing beyond his two-year extension with the Kansas City Chiefs by saying he eventually wants to retire with six Super Bowl rings.
Kelce, 34, agreed to his new contract with the Chiefs, worth $34.25 million, in late April, a reward for another impressive season in Kansas City that ended with a second consecutive Super Bowl victory and the third of his career.
But midway through last season, in an interview with the Wall Street Journal as his fame skyrocketed through his relationship with Taylor Swift, Kelce admitted that he often thinks about retiring because of the physical toll the game takes on his body.
However, fast forward to May, Kelce now appears to want to move on and match the six NBA titles Michael Jordan won in his basketball career.
‘Three more? Give me as many rings as Jordan has, honey,’ Kelce said with a laugh in an interview with Zen Water. “That feeling in the end zone is the greatest feeling, lifting that trophy at the end, that’s Mecca right there.

Kelce, 34, helped the Chiefs win their second consecutive Super Bowl last NFL season.
‘Vince Lombardi (the Super Bowl trophy) at the end of the year with my teammates, my coaches and the fan base in Kansas City, that’s what I’m thinking about. Three more, here we go.
‘Scoring a touchdown and hearing boos, silence or the entire stadium erupt is one of the greatest feelings you can ever have, man. I love it.
“Legacy-wise, I want to be known as someone who was selfless and really wanted to make a difference in the communities in which he played.
‘I have been in a very beautiful organization that has given me the opportunity to grow as an athlete and off the field.
Kelce has won the Super Bowl three times with the Chiefs and this season will lead their shot at a historic three-peat in the NFL.
The Chiefs are off to a spectacular start to the season, hosting the Baltimore Ravens on September 5 at Arrowhead Stadium in the first game of the season.
This is followed by the Cincinnati Bengals visiting Arrowhead, before their first road game in Week 3 against the Atlanta Falcons.
Speaking about his retirement last year, Kelce said: “That’s the one thing I’ve never been open about.” Discomfort. The pain. The nagging injuries…the 10 surgeries I’ve had.
“I still feel every single surgery to this day.”
Currently in the offseason, Kelce was in Europe last week to support his girlfriend Swift on her Eras Tour dates in Paris before the couple enjoyed a break in Lake Como, Italy.
