Travis Kelce revealed that he tried to follow in his older brother Jason’s footsteps and switch to veganism.

The brothers had Arnold Schwarzenegger as a special guest on the last episode of New Heights Podcast Wednesday and questioned the famous bodybuilder about his workout regimen.

The former governor of California advised NFL stars not to follow the crowd and instead figure out what worked for them individually.

But Travis admitted that he had already tried following a trend set by his older brother after experimenting with veganism and failing.

‘Jason does a long time… what is it? ‘Are you vegan?’ Travis said. ‘Jason is a true vegan. I was always vegan; I tried it for a week and couldn’t do it. However, he needed much more protein than beans. Have you ever gone vegan?

“I have reduced my meat consumption by 70 percent,” Schwarzenegger revealed. “The one who convinced me was Jim Cameron. He is vegan, 100 percent vegan. He has tremendous energy.

“I think it works because when you get older, doctors will tell you if you have heart disease and they will reduce your meat consumption.” So I did it. I started eating mostly vegetables, soup, and cucumber salad instead of chicken, beef, or steak. I still love my steak.

Jason, who announced his retirement from the NFL after an incredible 13-year career with the Philadelphia Eagles, admitted it wasn’t an easy transition, but he was trying to lose a few pounds after hanging up his cleats.

“It’s pretty hard to leave him,” confessed the legendary Eagles center.

‘I’m in the process right now, I’m retired. I’ve played my entire career at 295. I’m trying to get down to 250-260. My goal is two pounds each week, to lose it, but maintain my muscle mass. But I’m trying to maintain my protein and muscle mass.’

Jason had previously revealed his intentions to lose weight when he opened up about his post-retirement plans on the podcast’s first episode following his emotional announcement, but stated he wouldn’t try an extreme diet like veganism.

Travis also claimed that his older brother, Eagles legend Jason Kelce, was a “true vegan.”

“I’m going to lose weight,” Jason said. ‘My goal is 250 (pounds). Last week I went down to 285 because I knew I was doing this. And then I ate cake for three days straight.

Jason also shared his approach on his path to his desired weight. He revealed that he does not plan to start an extreme diet, but that he is taking baby steps by tracking his calorie intake.

“I personally don’t subscribe to doing extreme diets like going completely vegan or carnivore or ketogenic,” he continued. ‘My friend Joe Thomas lost a lot of weight (and) is completely ketogenic. And I was like, ‘Dude, more power to you,’ but fuck, no, I’m not doing that. It looks fantastic, but to me it’s not worth doing that.

‘I downloaded MyFitnessPal and started tracking calories. I feel like as long as I maintain my protein intake, keep my muscles and limit calories, you’ll start to lose weight, that’s the plan.’
