Travis Kelce may be 34 years old, but he plays like he’s half a decade younger according to Chiefs general manager Brett Veach.
Kelce, who signed a new two-year extension with the Chiefs on Monday worth a reported $17.1 million annually, starred in the postseason once again as Kansas City repeated as Super Bowl champions.
And Veach gushed about the tight end after the news broke, saying he was the “first guy in line” Monday running routes at the team’s practice facility.
“He looked like he was 28,” he told reporters.
“The odds of someone playing into their thirties are very low, but it happens, and it happens to unicorns in the profession and Travis is one of them,” he added.

Kelce signed a two-year extension with the Chiefs on Monday as he enters his 12th season.
“Everyone notices the type of postseason he had, and he just had an extra gear. These special players can always find that extra gear.
After the signing, the Chiefs wrote in X: “We signed the greatest tight end of all time to a new contract.”
Kelce himself also reacted to the news in a video on social media.
“Do it again, baby,” he told the camera while pointing to his Super Bowl LVIII cap. ‘I had to watch a little Super Bowl right here, man.
‘It feels good to be in Kansas City. I remember coming here 12 years ago, man. It’s an honor and a pleasure and I can’t wait to do it over the next two years. Not better than now. Getting ready for this year. I just went out to the field with the boys, we’re back, darling.’

In November, Kelce spoke with his brother about the prospect of retiring on his ‘New Heights’ podcast.
“That’s the one thing I’ve never been honest about: the awkwardness,” Travis said. ‘The pain. The nagging injuries, the 10 surgeries I’ve had and still feel every one of them to this day.
“Surgeries take a toll, man,” he continued. “They pass a toll. I was unlucky enough to have to have knee surgery, but fortunately I haven’t had any problems with that situation since then.”
Jason, 36, finally retired after 13 seasons with the Eagles.
While Travis came close to achieving his eighth consecutive 1,000-yard season for the Chiefs, he had a strong performance in the playoffs, totaling 355 yards and three touchdowns in four games.
