An Australian travel influencer took to TikTok to share her most overrated and underrated destinations in Europe.
Jacki, who posts under the handle @jetsetting_jackiHe periodically posts videos for his 23,000 followers in which he offers travel tips to different places.
In a recent post, he listed five spots for each category and gave his reasons, but not everyone agrees.
The clip has already been viewed by more than 115,000 people, and commentators provide their own opinions.
She captioned the TikTok: ‘Many European destinations are over-hyped but this is just my opinion so 100% make your own decision and tell me what you think. Which one do you want to fight me on?’

Five overrated European destinations
Paris
The starting point of Jacki’s overrated list is none other than the capital of France.
She admitted: “So, honestly, I absolutely hate Paris.
‘I’ve been to the city three times and felt unsafe. It was dirty, the people were not very friendly.
“I just didn’t enjoy my time in Paris at all and that’s why it’s on my list of overrated European places.”
One viewer agreed: “Paris is under hated (sic) and overrated,” while a second insisted: “I love Paris… you can’t change my mind.” Certain areas are surely overrated, but it is still a beautiful city.”
Amsterdam
He continues: “Next, a bit controversial, but next to Paris on the list is Amsterdam and I thought the partying there was quite overrated.”
‘It just wasn’t as good as people expected and yes, I know there are some things that are legal there that aren’t legal in other places, but it just didn’t make up for it. I don’t know.’
However, commenters responded with: “Amsterdam is amazing, just avoid the touristy places after the first day” and “Amsterdam is the best city I’ve ever been to.”
A third claimed: ‘Amsterdam is the best city in the world. You should give it another chance!’

Third on the list is a place the influencer describes as “completely overrated” and says she “wouldn’t even bother going”: Mykonos.
Jacki explained: I don’t know if this is just because I’m so in love with Ios but Mykonos was very expensive.
“It was busy, people were really screwed and I thought they were amazing because they were in Mykonos and they were better than you.”
She added: “The music was shit too and the guys were so creepy, so creepy.”
Magaluf
Fourth on the list is a popular British holiday destination, best known for its wild nightlife: Magaluf.
The travel professional explained: ‘My God, I thought I was going to be old doing it, but I have never felt older in my life than going to Magaluf.
“I’ve heard really good things about the rest of Mallorca, so I might have to go back and go there, but Magaluf was the most rubbish and disgusting place I’ve ever been.”
Commentators joked: ‘How did Magaluf get on this list?’ and ‘Who rates Magaluf?’, along with laughing emojis.
A third wrote: “Magaluf is well known throughout Europe as a place not to go; dirty and full of minors, it is definitely not highly rated.”
island of capri
The final destination on Jacki’s overrated list is the Italian island of Capri, located within the Bay of Naples.
She revealed: “I like it here on the island of Capri, it’s beautiful, I’ve been twice.”
‘But it’s so busy and it’s so small and all the shops and everything are so expensive.
“I can’t afford to be there. I think if you were rich and had a sugar daddy, it would be amazing.”
Five underrated European destinations
Sicily
Moving on to her five most underrated destinations, the TikToker named the Italian region of Sicily.
She recalled: ‘I went there a few years ago and I can’t wait to go back.
“It was amazing, it was cheap, it was beautiful, there were a lot less tourists.”
One viewer agreed: “Sicily is fantastic, it has amazing beaches and fantastic towns with hidden gems.”
However, a different commenter argued: “Went to Palermo Sicily in 2002, biggest dump I’ve ever been to.”
Another wrote: “Sicily is one of the poorest regions in Italy and there is almost nothing to see or do unless you want to stay on the beach all day or eat pasta, a big no for me.”
Scandinavia
Jacki continues: ‘Next, Scandinavia. I feel like a lot of Australians don’t include this in their European itinerary, but I spent six months studying in Sweden and it was amazing, guys.
‘I loved being there; I was in Copenhagen, Norway, everyone was amazing.
“The only place I didn’t love was Helsinki, but other than that it was all really fun.”
However, viewers were quick to point out that Finland is not part of Scandinavia.
Another traveler chimed in: “Scandinavia is nice, but don’t go to Oslo.” “So expensive and not that different from Gothenburg or Stockholm.”
Meanwhile, someone else argued: ‘How come you are all grouped in Scandinavia in one place? “There are several countries.”

Thirdly, talk about Malta, famous for its beautiful coastline and stunning landscapes.
Jacki revealed: ‘Malta is literally one of the most beautiful places I have ever been.
“The beaches were stunning, the partying was also a lot of fun and I feel like it’s still a little quieter than other European destinations.”
Viewers had similar experiences, adding: ‘Malta is a hidden gem, it’s a beautiful place. Coming back this year’ and ‘Malta is amazing’.
Others wrote: “Malta is the best” and “Malta is my favorite place.”
Saint Sebastian
In fourth place among underrated content creators is the Spanish city of San Sebastián.
She told viewers: “Literally one of the best meals I’ve ever had in my entire life – you have to go.”
“It was so beautiful, it was peaceful, it was fun.”
A fellow fan agreed, writing: “According to San Sebastian, it’s for the best.” I could easily live there: good atmosphere, beaches, mountains nearby, the food is amazing.”
A second praised: “San Sebastián is the most beautiful city in Europe, the best food within a mile of the country.”
Iceland
Finally, the travel professional talks about Iceland, despite never having been there.
She explained: “I haven’t been to this one but I know it’s going to be literally amazing and it’s Iceland.
“I feel like a lot of people don’t put this on their wish list, but it looks crazy and I know I’m going to love it.”
But others believe it should have been on the overrated list, with one user writing: “Iceland is a bit overrated, the Baltic countries really underrated, the people there are amazing.”
Another agreed: “Iceland is not underrated, it is very popular now.”
