A woman claimed she was kicked off a Southwest Airlines flight after her cat pooped in her carrier during turbulence and then left at the airport.
The woman, named Alex, took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to recount the mishap.
‘Finger up if your kitty pooped in her carrier on the plane because she was afraid of a rough landing and the crew was so angry about the smell that they kicked you off your next flight and left you in a random city for 12 hours.’ and now you’re rationing cat litter and food in a family bathroom,’ the user, who goes by @barelyalex, he wrote in the now-viral post.
In a follow-up, Alex claimed that his seven-month-old kitten, named Oni, had an accident after he got scared during the turbulent landing on a recent Southwest flight.
Alex explained that she had a connecting flight with very little time between them, so she was rushed to clean up after the kitten in the plane’s bathroom while she waited to disembark.
He explained that he threw the dirty paper towels in the plane’s bathroom because he didn’t think he should flush them down the toilet.
“After wrapping the dirty paper towels in clean ones, I throw them in the trash because I’m worried about them getting thrown away and hoping they take out the trash between flights,” she wrote in the post.
Alex added that he explained the ordeal to the flight attendants, who were “sweet and understanding.”
A woman named Alex claimed she was kicked off a Southwest Airlines flight after her cat pooped in her carrier during turbulence and then left at the airport.
“I finish cleaning and put the rest of the trash in the trash bag so they can easily get rid of it,” he continued.
Although Alex said that when he got off the plane, Oni and the aircraft carrier were clean and odor-free, he overheard the flight attendants mention that they had run out of air freshener.
“I run out and quickly realize that I will be boarding the same plane again (for my connection),” he shared.
‘Oni and his carrier are completely clean and there is no trace of the incident. It doesn’t smell anything.’
But when he boarded again, Alex found out that they had to close that bathroom because of the smell of garbage.
She noted that the crew had changed, but the old cabin crew had “clearly” informed the new staff what had happened.
‘I go and sit in the back. The flight attendant approaches me in a hostile manner saying that they are agitated because they had to close that bathroom during the flight and questions me,’ he said.
“I’m so stressed and overwhelmed and I apologize because I really thought they would change the trash but they didn’t and they don’t have spray to help with the smell.”
She claimed on
According to Alex, the flight attendants then told her that “the bathroom is not her litter box,” which made her cry, adding that she was “overwhelmed, embarrassed and stressed.”
A few minutes later, she said a Southwest agent sat next to her and told her the crew wanted her off the flight, eventually escorting her off the plane and rebooking her.
‘(My new flight) lasts several hours since then, to another airport. Then another layover of more than an hour and finally to (my destination) LAX,” he roared.
Alex added that he was originally due to land at LAX at 5 pm, and now it meant landing after midnight.
Although the Southwest agent at the rebooking counter told him he had done nothing wrong and thought the crew had overreacted.
Finally, because of his troubles, he was given a $200 voucher for a future flight.
“I only packed for a few hours so I had to be careful with supplies for Oni, but he’s doing great and we have one flight left,” she said in the post.
Alex added that he ended up picking up his bags at 2 a.m. at LAX.
X users were shocked by the ordeal and many criticized the airline.
X users were dismayed to learn that trash is not taken out between flights.
‘This is brutal, I can’t believe they kicked you off the flight due to an accident. It seems like they weren’t prepared at all, not even an air freshener?!’ commented one user.
—Is it also ridiculous that they don’t take out the trash between flights? Another said in disbelief.
Others criticized the airline.
‘Based on your description of what happened, I think @SouthwestAir owes it to you and other customers traveling with pets to investigate what happened here,” someone on X wrote.
‘If this story is correct, it is appropriate for Southwest to apologize. In my opinion, air travel with pets should be limited. Many pets are well-mannered on board, but some can be a nightmare for those around them.’
DailyMail.com has contacted Southwest for comment.
