A travel influencer has revealed how you can get a free trip to Iceland using a service that offers travelers the chance to explore the Nordic country while they travel.

Travel influencer Raychel, who posts under the username notluxe, shared the travel hack that gives travelers the opportunity to stop over for free.

“Airlines often offer this program to encourage tourism in their hub cities,” Raychel wrote in the video’s title, adding in a comment that it generates thousands of additional tourists per year.

“Think about an extended layover, with no additional airfare costs,” he added.

With Icelandair, passengers can add a free stopover in Reykjavik, the capital, for up to seven nights at no additional charge to the ticket.

Raychel explained how to get the gift and explained that you must be flying over the Atlantic for the stopover to be free.

“So if you’re already planning a trip from, say, the United States to somewhere in Europe, and you feel like adding Iceland for free along the way, you can add a flight to Iceland at no additional cost,” he explained.

‘So you book your flight from your origin to your destination as usual and then select add stopover.

“You can stay in Iceland one night, three nights, or up to seven nights,” he shared.

In his example, Raychel had selected a flight from Chicago to Spain and then back to Chicago for less than $400.

“Turn one trip into two without buying additional flights,” he said.

Raychel then told viewers that this trick isn’t just for Iceland, as other airlines are offering the same deal with the free stopover setup.

‘TAP (Air Portugal) allows you to stopover in Portugal for free, Emirates offers free stopovers in Dubai, Copa offers free stopovers in Panama City.

“You can also do this in Finland, Türkiye and Qatar,” he continued.
