Tbilisi, Georgia
Solo travel expert Helen Youngman recommends Georgia’s capital, Tbilisi (above), for a solo getaway. She says the “welcoming locality” is one of the many positive points.
Helen Youngman, who runs a solo travel company Trip to AditiHe recommended Tbilisi, the 1,500-year-old capital of Georgia, located at the intersection of Europe and Asia.
Helen told MailOnline Travel: ‘Tbilisi is a creative and eclectic city with a historic old town, colorful Ottoman architecture and warm, welcoming people, making it perfect for exploring alone.
‘Relax in the city’s famous sulfur bathhouses, enjoy wine tastings in cozy basement bars and, for a taste of famous Georgian hospitality and cuisine, book a meal at a local family home.
‘Stay in: Tbilisi Hotel RoomsIt is located in a beautifully restored building and is an ideal base for exploring the vibrant local culture.
Santiago, Chile
Nicky Kelvin of The Points Guy said that Santiago (above) is “one of the safest countries in South and Latin America” with “stunning natural scenery” and “a huge hostel culture.”
Nicky Kelvintravel expert and general editor of The dots boyrecommended a hotspot in South America that is surrounded by the snow-capped Andes Mountains and the Chilean Coast Range: Santiago, the capital of Chile.
Nicky explained to MailOnline: ‘Chile is considered one of the safest countries in South America and Latin America, and the capital has an especially low crime rate.
‘Once you venture beyond Santiago, you can enjoy skiing in the Andes, hiking in the Atacama Desert, and even enjoy wine tastings by bike.
‘In terms of stunning natural landscapes, the wild Chilean landscapes are hard to beat.
‘Plus, the whole country has a huge hostel culture (with budget and high-end options), which makes it easy to find new friends. Do you prefer to stay in the city? Santiago has many accessible viewpoints, fantastic museums and also delicious restaurants.’
Berlin Germany
Nicky recommended Berlin for a solo European city break, highlighting its “excellent public transport, high level of spoken English” and numerous hostels.
Travelers looking to explore Europe are spoiled for choice, but Nicky recommends the German capital for solo travelers.
He noted: “Berlin is a city with a low crime rate, excellent public transport, a high level of spoken English and a progressive atmosphere that will make almost anyone feel at home.”
‘With plenty of hostels and free tours, you’ll easily be able to meet other solo travelers in a low-pressure environment.
“Berlin also has a fantastic public art route, making exploring the city on foot especially easy and entertaining.”
Melbourne, Australia

Lee Dobson, co-founder of travel citywhich offers reviews and suggestions on where to go, advises tourists to venture out.
He told MailOnline: ‘Melbourne stands out as a great city break for solo travelers due to its vibrant cultural scene, diverse neighborhoods and welcoming local people.
‘The city is known for its street art, coffee culture and numerous festivals. Solo travelers can visit the National Gallery of Victoria, explore the alleys lined with unique shops and cafes, and relax at the Royal Botanic Gardens.
‘Melbourne’s extensive tram network makes it easy to get around. The city is also a gateway to natural attractions such as the Great Ocean Road and the Yarra Valley, perfect for day trips.
Taipei, Taiwan

Nicky from The Points Guy suggested that solo travelers looking to explore Asia should venture to Taiwan, an island country off the east coast of China.
And while he was there, he recommended going directly to Taipei.
He explained: ‘Taiwan is right up there with Japan in terms of safety, and Taipei (the capital) is much cheaper for a solo traveler than Tokyo.
‘With an immense offering of budget and boutique properties, as well as big-brand hotels that are also well-priced (think Kimpton and Hilton), solo travelers are spoiled for choice when it comes to accommodation options.
‘Free walking tours are offered in many neighborhoods and are a great way to connect with like-minded travelers, as are street food tours.
‘An added bonus: Taipei’s subway system is clean, organized and safe. He even plays classical music when the trains approach.’
