Protesters clashed at a transgender rights rally in Melbourne as UK anti-trans activist Kellie-Jay Keen continued her national tour in Victoria.

About 30 people from the far-right National Socialist Movement group marched down Spring Street near Parliament House in Victoria on Saturday afternoon.

They held signs calling transgender people offensive names and gave Nazi salutes.

The group clashed with hundreds of people demonstrating for transgender rights.

The pro-trans group held signs that included messages like “women are not defined by their bodies.”

Police, including mounted officers, worked to keep the two groups apart.

Spring Street remained blocked to traffic in both directions early Saturday afternoon.

Ms Keen, a self-described transphobic, has been touring the country visiting Perth, Brisbane and Sydney.

She believes that it is impossible to change gender and campaigns to exclude trans women from women-only spaces.

He also argues that trans people should have a dead name and not have the right to choose their own pronouns.

Ms Keen has come under heavy criticism from many groups in the past, including for allegedly posing with an activist who celebrated the death of Winnie Mandela and called the anti-apartheid fighter a “whore” and “murderous white farmer c ***”.

She has also been criticized by a British MP for saying that access to abortion and contraception must be reduced for children and adolescents.

Ms Keen raised eyebrows recently after criticizing British MP Jess Phillips for reading the name of a teenage trans murder victim, Brianna Ghey, in the House of Commons during an International Women’s Day speech.

He has also spoken alongside various figures from far-right groups, including Christopher Barcenas, a member of the Proud Boys, who was deposed by the US government due to his presence at the January 6 Capitol riot.
