A transgender who dropped the scales at 360 pounds has lost nearly half his body weight after transitioning and is now competing as a male bodybuilder.
Dee Westcott, 31, from Massachusetts, has lost more than 150 pounds through diet and exercise since turning his life around weight loss journey almost four years ago.
“ If I hadn’t started transitioning into a man, I don’t think I would ever have lost weight because I wouldn’t have believed in myself and loved myself enough to begin with, ” he told Good Morning America’s All the way

Dee, who grew up as a woman until he was 26, explained that he did not know female to male transition was possible until he heard about it on Tumblr and Instagram.
“That’s kind of how I realized who I was,” he said. “I was 26, so some people say I switched a little late in life, but I think you can switch at any age.”
Dee weighed nearly 400 pounds and could barely walk or tie his shoes when he realized he needed to change his life in 2017.
My first step started slowly. I would walk around my yard. I think I started with 3,000 or 4,000 steps a day, and then I would try to make it a little bit easier, ”he recalled.

“It’s very discouraging, you know, trying to lose weight [as] someone who had no idea how to lose weight. It was really difficult. ‘
As Dee got stronger, he went from walking to weightlifting in the gym, which has become a passion for him.
In addition to losing more than 150 pounds, he competed in the Summer Shredding Classic bodybuilding show in October 2020, taking fourth place.
If you asked me 10 years ago if I was going to step on stage as a man in a bodybuilding show, I probably would have watched you [like you had] ten heads, ”he admitted.
Getting Started: Dee said he started exercising by taking walks in his yard, aiming for 3,000 to 4,000 steps
Difficult to handle: he admitted it was ‘daunting’ trying to lose weight as someone who didn’t really know where to start
Muscle Building: Dee went from walking to lifting weights in the gym
Dee noticed during his physical transformation that there wasn’t much representation for trans men who were taller and wanted to lose weight.
“I was like, ‘Okay, now is my time to finally be the person I wish I had when I started this journey,’ he explained.
The fitness fanatic’s desire to help others like himself led him to become a certified personal trainer and coach. He is currently training for his first triathlon.
Dee has more than 10,000 followers on Instagram, sharing before and after photos of his transformation and opening up about weight loss.
“I’m really a believer in loving yourself every step of the way,” he said.

‘While I am preparing my training for the triathlon. It’s crazy that I do about 10 workouts a week, including lifting, running and cycling, and soon swimming too! ‘ He wrote.
‘In the photo on the left I had no idea what I was capable of. I had no faith in anything. All I’m very proud of besides losing 150 pounds is gaining confidence in everything in my life, ” he continued.
‘I now believe that I can do anything. One day I can get my dream job and continue to grow my business. I know my worth and you too! Never settle for less.
