Dee, who grew up as a woman until he was 26, explained that he did not know female to male transition was possible until he heard about it on Tumblr and Instagram.

“That’s kind of how I realized who I was,” he said. “I was 26, so some people say I switched a little late in life, but I think you can switch at any age.”

Dee weighed nearly 400 pounds and could barely walk or tie his shoes when he realized he needed to change his life in 2017.

My first step started slowly. I would walk around my yard. I think I started with 3,000 or 4,000 steps a day, and then I would try to make it a little bit easier, ”he recalled.

As Dee got stronger, he went from walking to weightlifting in the gym, which has become a passion for him.

In addition to losing more than 150 pounds, he competed in the Summer Shredding Classic bodybuilding show in October 2020, taking fourth place.

If you asked me 10 years ago if I was going to step on stage as a man in a bodybuilding show, I probably would have watched you [like you had] ten heads, ”he admitted.
