PSG ‘connects with Rennes’ during the summer move for French prodigy Eduardo Camavinga, with sporting director Leonardo ‘seeing the 18-year-old as the future of midfield’
Paris Saint-Germain has reached out to Rennes in an attempt to steal a march on Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Manchester United in the race for teenage wonder kid Eduardo Camavinga, according to reports in France.
PSG played a 1-1 draw against Rennes on Sunday and while it proved damaging on the field for Mauricio Pochettino’s side in their bid for the Ligue 1 title, progress is said to have been made in the boardroom.
L’Equipe report that PSG sporting director Leonardo was in talks with Rennes in an attempt to secure a deal for Camavinga this summer.

Rennes is believed to be able to cash in on the 18-year-old this summer, with just one year left on his current contract.
The report indicates that Bayern Munich, one of Camavinga’s many suitors, is reluctant to pay more than € 25m (£ 21.5m) and that this has seemingly opened the door for PSG to take control.
Camavinga has played 37 times for Bruno Genesio’s men so far this season, with Rennes only one point behind Marseille in fifth place.

In conversation with Telefoot Recently, Camavinga tried to keep his feet on the ground amid the frenzy that surrounds his future.
“You feel flattered and it is nice that teams like Real Madrid or Bayern are interested in your situation,” he said.
“I’m not going to lie, but I haven’t thought about it with my family yet.”
Speak to target In February, Camavinga’s agent Jonathan Barnett, who also represents Gareth Bale, spoke to the ceiling for the teenager.
“Let’s see what happens later, but he’s doing well in Rennes and that’s fine,” Barnett said.

PSG suffered a disappointing Champions League exit to Manchester City in the semi-final and Leonardo is looking for a side that has struggled to reaffirm its dominance in France this season, with Lille leading the title race.
Camavinga’s stock has continued to rise across the continent and he could raise his price tag even more if he is chosen by Didier Deschamps’ for the French squad at this summer’s European championships.
Against Ukraine, Camavinga became France’s youngest goalscorer in 106 years in October.
