FC Bayern wants to sign a new top striker for the coming season. In addition to Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen and Randal Kolo Muani, Romelu Lukaku is now also being traded by the German record champions.
The “t-online” portal at least speculates that Lukaku could be interesting for FC Bayern given his contract situation. Accordingly, the 29-year-old striker could be “a good option” for Munich.
Lukaku is on loan from Chelsea to Inter until the end of the season. According to “Gazzetta dello Sport”, the Italians do not want to extend the loan deal. With this measure, the traditional club wants to lower the salary level and hire a younger successor.
Lukaku’s contract with Chelsea FC runs until 2026. But whether the Blues have any use for the injury-prone attacker is questionable, and a return is unlikely.
In 2021, the Londoners had spent around 113 million euros on the assault tank. However, Lukuku was not happy on his second attempt at Stamford Bridge.
Under ex-Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel, under whom he would also play at Bayern, Lukaku was rarely used. “Tuchel has decided on a different game system. I will continue to be professional. I’m not happy,” he said at the time.
Lukaku flirted with FC Bayern
In the past, Lukaku has been linked to a move to Bayern Munich several times.
The national player even flirted publicly with the German industry leader on “Sky Italia” in 2021: “In my opinion, there are three absolute top teams in football: Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich. Every player dreams of playing for one of these clubs .”
FC Bayern is looking for a real number nine for the coming season. The 1.91 meter tall Lukaku would fit the requirement profile perfectly.
His goal tally in Serie A speaks against a commitment. Lukaku has only scored three goals in 18 league games. In the Champions League, he only needed four games to score as many goals.
