A father has revealed the final heartbreaking images taken of his five-year-old son moments before he drowned in a Cornish holiday park pool.

Robin Caliskan died at the Atlantic Reach holiday park in Newquay on July 31 after desperate calls to emergency services that she was in trouble in the water.

Robin and her family had been at the Newquay holiday resort for around an hour before the tragic incident. Caliskan has now shared two photos of Robin on the day of her death.

One of the images shows Robin posing with his six-month-old brother Renas in the pool, while another is of him in the tent they set up before going swimming.

His parents, Cemal and Ferzane Caliskan, both 35, paid tribute to their “cute and intelligent” boy, saying they were “grateful for all the messages” they have received since their son’s death was reported.

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed the incident is not being treated as suspicious, but an inquiry is underway with Cornwall Health and Safety Council to establish the circumstances surrounding Robin’s death.

Hundreds of heartfelt tributes have poured in to Robin and his family, with those who knew Robin describing him as an ‘angel boy’.

One said, ‘Rip Robin, fly high, baby.’ Caleb will miss you so much.

Another added: ‘He was an angel child. Distressing. I will always remember it.’

A third said: ‘From one father to another. I am very sorry that this has happened. My deepest thoughts are with all of you at this time.

Atlantic Reach has also said that its thoughts are with Robin’s family.

A statement issued on behalf of the resort read: “We do not believe it is appropriate to comment further at this stage, other than to say that our thoughts are with the family at this time.”

‘Atlantic Reach is committed to supporting our guests and the community, as well as our team who provided immediate assistance. As such, we respectfully ask that all those affected have time and space at this harrowing time.”

A police spokesman said: “Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a child at a holiday park in Newquay.

The ambulance service informed police that a five-year-old boy had drowned in a swimming pool inside Atlantic Reach Holiday Park on Monday, July 31.

‘The boy is from the Plymouth area and his next of kin are aware, the death is not being treated as suspicious and a file should be prepared for the coroner.

“Officers from Devon and Cornwall Police along with representatives from Cornwall Health and Safety Board are conducting inquiries in relation to the circumstances surrounding this death.”
