The search for a young Australian woman who disappeared from her home more than three days ago has had a tragic outcome.
ACT Police are appealing to the public for help in locating 26-year-old Mathilde Innes Pouliquin, who was last seen in the Canberra suburb of Dixon on Friday, September 27.
Police asked Canberrans to be on the lookout for Ms Pouliquin, who was described as Caucasian in appearance, with a slim build and dark curly hair.
Major concerns were expressed for his well-being.
It was not known what he was wearing when he left his house, but he was driving a red/maroon Volkswagen Golf hatchback with registration number ACT YOP57Z.
The car stands out because it has significant hail damage.
In a tragic update on Sunday night, police confirmed that the body of a woman reported missing in the country’s capital was found near a stream in New South Wales.
The woman was found near Wells Creek in Berrima, a small rural town in the state’s Southern Highlands, about 11:45 a.m. Sunday.
The search for Mathilde Innes Pouliquin (pictured), 26, was last seen leaving her home in Canberra on Friday.
“At this time, investigators believe this is the missing 26-year-old woman (Ms. Pouliquin) we posted about on Friday and Saturday,” police said.
“Police are not considering any suspicious circumstances.”
Police will prepare a report for the coroner outlining the circumstances of the woman’s death.
