Police have found the body of a 49-year-old fisherman on a beach after he went missing at sea.
Early on Wednesday morning, police and SES resumed a search and rescue operation for Adam Muir at Kurrimine Beach, about 100 kilometres south of Cairns on the Cassowary Coast.
Mr Muir was reported missing on Tuesday at 2.30pm when he failed to return from a fishing trip.
Search crews found the man’s boat about 8 kilometres north of the Kurrimine Beach boat ramp.
Initial investigations indicated that the man had left the boat ramp before his vessel broke down.
Mr Muir was found dead on the beach a short distance away.
Mr Muir is known to have encountered severe weather and was swept out to sea, where he drowned.

There was no evidence to suggest Mr Muir was attacked by a crocodile, according to the Cairns Mail.
Online, Kurrimine residents were saddened to hear of Mr Muir’s death.
Many offered their condolences to the man’s family and friends, while others thanked police and SES workers for the swift search.
