Heartless anti-vaxxers have hijacked the tragic death of Channel Seven news reporter Nathan Templeton to falsely claim he had died from the Covid-19 vaccine.
The body of the 44-year-old father-of-two was found on a dog walking trail near the Barwon River in Geelong on Tuesday afternoon.
Templeton leaves behind his wife Kate and two young sons, Jack and James.
“Our hearts are broken for an adoring father and wonderful friend, who will be missed by many,” his family said in a statement Wednesday.
Within hours of the journalist’s tragic death, conspiracy theorists began claiming that the vaccine had killed him.
This is despite Templeton suffering a medical episode and a report being prepared for the coroner.
WhatsNew2Day Australia understands Templeton had been dealing with long-standing personal issues, including depression, and had been receiving support.
Anti-vaxxers falsely claimed that sudden death must be related to the Covid vaccine.
“As far as sudden COVID-19 mRNA vaccine deaths go, walking the dog may not be a bad way to go,” one wrote.
Popular Channel Seven Sunrise and sports reporter Nathan Templeton has died after suffering a medical episode in the Barwon River in Geelong.
But anti-vaccine trolls have seized upon his tragic death to falsely claim that he had died from the Covid-19 blow.
Others shared previous social media posts Templeton made encouraging people to get punched during Victoria’s numerous lockdowns, citing it as evidence that he died from the punch.
“Sadly, Nathan was the victim of a scientific failure,” one wrote on Facebook.
‘Not sharing to rub it in or ‘we told you so’, sharing to raise awareness among those who are still sleeping.’
Another responded to a story about Templeton’s death with the sarcastic comment: “But remember, it’s safe and effective!”, followed by a series of skull and syringe emojis.
But many Australians have criticized the illness claims.
“To jump to conclusions, go back under your rock,” said one.
Another added: “Another stupid comment just happened with more than respect for someone.” Pushing a rubbish agenda.
A third said: “Show some respect.” Keep your “theories” to yourself. Nobody wants to hear them.
A fourth said: “Please leave this type of talk show, some respect for his devastated family and friends.”
A few days before his death, Templeton had shared photos on Instagram of himself and his two young children eating chocolate eggs on Easter morning.
“Favorite morning of the year,” she captioned a series of family photos.
Respected Channel Seven presenter Ann Sanders announced her death during the network’s 11.30am bulletin yesterday.
Sanders maintained his composure as he delivered the sad news during the live broadcast.
“We send our deepest condolences to his family and friends who remember Nathan as a doting father and wonderful friend,” he said.
Victoria Police are preparing a report for the coroner after Templeton’s body was found in a park, believed to be Zillah Crawcour Park, near her home in Geelong.

“Emergency services were called to a park in Newtown at around 2.30pm where they found the man deceased,” a spokesperson said.
“The death is not considered suspicious at this time.”
Templeton had worked for Seven for more than 12 years, including as Melbourne correspondent for its morning show Sunrise, and in its sports department.
However, he had not been on air at Sunrise since late 2022 and was working in a behind-the-scenes role last year.
