An Australian father of two has tragically died while on a cruise holiday with his family.

Edward Langley fell on a trail during a stopover in Vanuatu, a popular tourist destination in the Pacific Islands, about 1,750 kilometres east of northern Australia.

He may have died of a heart attack or stroke, his family said.

The father of two is now mourning his wife Heidi and their two children; daughter Marizel and son Timmy.

Family friend Estie Esterhuizen said the exact cause of death was still unknown.

“Our deepest condolences to each and every one of you,” he said.

“We can’t even begin to comprehend what you all are going through right now…”

Ms Esterhuizen is raising funds for the family following the sudden loss through a GoFundMe campaign that has so far raised more than $5,000.

“We hope we can all make a difference to help her and her family through this uncertain and devastating time following the sudden loss of her husband, Edward,” she said.

‘There have been some requests about how friends and family can support her and help her, so this is just one way to donate and help in a way we all know is difficult and expensive.

‘I want to thank you on behalf of Heidi and I hope we can come together, not only to celebrate Edward’s life, but also to support this family who needs us all now more than ever.’

At the time of writing, over $5,000 of the $10,000 campaign goal has been raised.
