A little girl who drowned in her family’s holiday lodge in Bali has been remembered as the “kindest person” taken away too soon.
Three-year-old Janaa Al Easawi, from Sydney, was found unconscious in the pool at his parents’ villa in Seminyak, near Kuta, on Thursday afternoon.
Her father was the first to see her and immediately ran out to perform CPR, with the help of a nearby Australian woman who was also on holiday in Bali, after pulling her out of the water.
The family had mistakenly thought the pool gate was closed before the incident.
Janaa was about to celebrate her fourth birthday and was getting ready to start school.
Tragically, she could not be revived.
The family of three had been holidaying in Bali from their Campbelltown home over the summer.
Her parents hope her grief will raise awareness about pool safety and are now warning others to think twice before booking accommodation with backyard pools.

His distraught parents shared a statement after the tragedy.
They said that despite the loss, they were grateful for the time they spent with Janaa.
“His memory will live forever in the countless moments he gave us,” they say. told 7News.
‘Janaa’s smile had the power to light up every room, and her love for her parents, family, friends and her beloved parrot (Coco) was limitless.
‘Our precious Janaa, you will be loved forever and will remain in our hearts, always.’
Other heartbroken relatives also shared tributes remembering the young woman as “beautiful”.
The family are now preparing to fly back to Sydney with the body where they will arrange a funeral.
Her parents said they want Janaa’s life to be celebrated, but they also hope the tragic story serves as a warning to others.
A family spokesperson said children should always be closely supervised when around water, even if it appears the facility has safety measures in place.
Janaa’s parents also advised all parents to teach their children to swim from an early age to avoid similar tragedies in the future.
Janaa had recently started taking swimming lessons.
