A 21-year-old West Point cadet was found dead in a river after disappearing during a spring break weekend in Florida, authorities report.

Havin Morris had been partying at an Irish bar in Fort Lauderdale with three of his friends, who later “lost track of him,” just two days before his body was found.

The young cadet’s friends last saw him at the Dicey Riley Irish Pub, near New River, around 1am on Sunday. The sentinel of the sun reports.

A police dive team later found the young cadet’s body Monday in the river near Morris’ last sighting.

According to local authorities, the “brilliant” young man likely drowned in the New River and no foul play is suspected.

“Information gathered throughout our investigation led the FLPD dive team to search the New River near the area where he was last seen,” police said. KPIX.

‘Divers located his body on Monday night. At this time, his death appears to have been an accidental drowning and no foul play is suspected.

Eventually, Morris’ parents were informed of their son’s disappearance after his friends were unable to locate him or reach him at the hotel.

The parents received a text message from Morris at 11pm the night before.

However, when they tried to contact him several times the next day, all calls went straight to voicemail, according to The Sun Sentinal.

Morris’s father, Hollis, described the lack of correspondence as “abnormal behavior” by the cadet.

Following his death, touching tributes to the cadet were shared by West Point staff, who described him as “brilliant and resilient.”

The young man’s tactical officer, Maj. Rebecca A. Gogue, said he was a “bright, resilient young man with the determination to succeed.”

West Point Lt. Gen. Superintendent Steve Gilland also said, “Cadet Morris was a valued member of the Corps of Cadets, committed to serving his country as an Army officer.”

“The entire West Point community offers our deepest condolences to the Morris family.”

The U.S. Army has provided Morris’ family with a support officer to assist them at this time, according to their statement.

West Point has also said the Army Criminal Investigation Command is working with Fort Lauderdale police in the investigation into Morris’ death.

Friends later informed his parents that they could not reach Morris the next day. They then filed a missing persons report describing Morris’ lack of correspondence as “abnormal” (pictured: a section of the New River).

Moving tributes to the cadet were shared by West Point staff, who described him as “brilliant and resilient.”

This comes after first responders in Fort Lauderdale discovered that seven people, including six West Point cadets, were overdosing on cocaine laced with fentanyl.

A panicked spring break student told police how his military cadet friends passed out after taking drugs and drinking a “huge amount,” in shocking 911 audio obtained by DailyMail.com in March 2022 .

“We did coke and we’re not getting answers right now,” the anonymous caller says as first responders rush to an address in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Two of the seven involved went into cardiac arrest after the overdose and were placed on ventilators.

All seven were hospitalized and the group survived according to local10.com.
