The body of an 86-year-old grandfather was found in a park after he went missing in his home in Melbourne.

Luigi Di Sante, who suffered from short-term memory loss, was last seen alive in St Albans, northwestern Melbourne on Friday at 12.30 pm.

A nurse raised the alarm when she checked Mr Di Sante's sick wife Rosa and noticed that he was missing in his house for 47 years.

The temperatures dropped to a low of 2C & night before a resident found a body in a park in Albanvale at 8:20 on Sunday morning.

The 77-year-old was last seen in a Westfield Shopping Center in Geelong on 13 June.
