The man was swimming with friends at Winifred Falls (pictured) in Sydney’s Royal National Park when the tragedy occurred.
Reception issues due to the remote location within the national park have complicated the identification of the man and the circumstances surrounding his death.
“Police established the crime scene and began investigating the circumstances surrounding the man’s death,” a statement from New South Wales Police said.
The authorities will prepare a report for the coroner.
