A homicide squad detective tragically took his own life at a police station.
The officer is believed to have died early Monday morning.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
The tragedy comes just 11 months after WA Police announced the state’s homicide squad was under-resourced and out of action following a surge in murder cases.
In response to the problem, additional officers from both suburban and urban areas were pulled from their regular rounds and sent to the Northbridge-based homicide unit to assist.
