Footage captured the moment a worker chased a driver after he crashed into another car and allegedly tried to flee the scene.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Hellawell and Beaudesert roads between Acacia Ridge and Sunnybank Hills in Brisbane’s south on Monday morning.

The footage, shared by Dashcam Owners Australia, shows a blue Mazda hatchback driving through the intersection.

The traffic lights were red for 17 seconds before the blue Mazda darted into oncoming traffic and collided with a white Toyota hatchback.

The Toyota hatchback spun 360 degrees before crashing into a red Mazda SUV in the adjacent lane.

All three cars came to a complete stop in the middle of the intersection as workers rushed to help the driver behind the wheel of the Toyota.

The driver of the blue Mazda was seen getting out of his car and walking to the side of the road.

A worker wearing a reflective vest saw the driver leaving the scene of the accident and gave chase.

“I love how the guy runs across the street and confronts the guy who caused the accident,” one person commented.

“An old friend in a yellow shirt appears from the bottom right and does a ‘b’ line towards the Mazda driver, duly tackling him to the ground,” a second person wrote.

“God bless the worker who saw his old friend walking away calmly… and knocked him down,” says a third.

A fourth added: “That worker pinned him down. Those are the kind of people who deserve Australian of the year. What a bloody legend!”

“This is cooked up, it’s a regularly used intersection near my house, it’s always very busy, it could easily have been fatal,” another person added.
