A company has been accused of pocketing tens of thousands of dollars while leaving clients destitute and projects unfinished.

Hong Thanh Dang Tran, 44, allegedly took $450,000 from 35 Queenslanders before leaving without completing renovations to his home.

He was charged with 35 counts of fraud and appeared in Richlands Magistrates Court.

Dang Tran is currently in protective custody and faces a charge of impersonation and allegations that he rented tools from Bunnings and never returned them.
