Toy maker Character has said it is confident its ranges will perform well this year despite “difficult” trading conditions.
The company, which markets brands such as Peppa Pig, Pokémon and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, said early signs show that new products, such as a 30-pound cotton candy maker, are proving popular.
A spokesperson said: “Customer previews of our 2025 ranges have been very successful to date and we are confident the ranges will perform well next year.”
The optimism came as it prepares to showcase new ranges at the London Toy Fair in Olympia next week and at the Nuremberg Toy Fair at the end of the month.
Many options to choose from: characters have brands such as Peppa Pig, Pokémon and Ninja Turtles
“These two international fairs are the most important events in our annual marketing calendar for Europe,” the spokesperson added.
Company bosses expect profits for the year to August 31, 2025 to be at a similar level to the £6.6m they recorded last year.
The shares fell more than 3.5 per cent, or 9p, to 249p after admitting that “trading conditions have remained challenging”.
