Tourist in her 20s dives 50m off cliff while taking selfie at popular lookout
A 22-year-old tourist plunged 50m off a cliff face while trying to take a selfie from a lookout point on Philip Island in Victoria.
The young woman was with two of her friends near the Pinnacles lookout at Cape Woolamai when she fell around midday on Saturday.
It appears the woman was stuck for some time with injuries to her back and upper body.
The woman’s two friends climbed down the cliffside and waited with her until emergency services arrived.
Acting Bass Coast Police Inspector Dave Fyfe said the woman was taken to safety by air ambulance and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening but serious injuries.
“She’s in hospital now, they’re not life-threatening injuries but they’re still quite serious,” Mr Fyfe told ABC News.
