Son Heung-min admits the pressure of trying to replace Harry Kane's goals at Tottenham and what he REALLY thought of James Maddison before joining the club.

Son Heung-min has admitted that he feels “pressure” to replace Harry Kane’s goals at Tottenham, but explained how that burden is helping him improve.

He also revealed that he “loved” James Maddison’s style before joining Spurs from Leicester for £40million in the summer.

Son, who has scored 15 goals so far this season, was speaking ahead of Tottenham’s clash with Newcastle in the Premier League.

Ange Postecoglou’s team has moved into the top four thanks to the recent fall of Aston Villa.

“I think everyone wants to take a step forward, especially when Harry left the club, obviously,” Son said.

“When I am happy here, 30 goals are guaranteed, but who is going to score those 30 goals in this club?

“I love the pressure, because when you play in the Premier League, you have to feel that pressure to improve.”

Kane left for Bayern Munich in the summer in search of trophies.

On Maddison, whose form has not been at the same level as before his ankle injury earlier this season, he said: “Before he joined Spurs, I really loved him because I liked this type of player who is making a game with its quality.

“I think creating chances, scoring goals, making those runs… I want to make him an even better player, but he has a bright future.”
