Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou beat his Arsenal counterpart Mikel Arteta to the Coach of the Year award at the London Football Awards 2024.

Postecoglou has been honored at the annual event after helping to transform Tottenham since his arrival from Celtic last summer.

The Australian overcame the sale of the club’s top scorer Harry Kane to lead Spurs to fifth place in the Premier League.

Tottenham will look to secure a return to the Champions League, after missing out on Europe entirely following a miserable campaign last season.

Postecoglou’s honor comes despite Arsenal being involved in a second consecutive Premier League title race under Arteta.

The Gunners are two points behind leaders Liverpool and one behind champions Man City.

Arteta had been named winner of the award last season, where Arsenal ultimately collapsed in the title race to finish second.

West Ham’s David Moyes, outgoing Chelsea manager Emma Hayes and Leyton Orient’s Richie Wellens were also nominated.

Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice was crowned Player of the Year after his impressive performances since arriving last summer for £105million.

The award also rewards Rice’s performances for West Ham last season, where he captained the Hammers in the UEFA Europa Conference League.

Rice beat off competition from former West Ham team-mate Jarrod Bowen, Tottenham duo Guglielmo Vicario and Pedro Porro, as well as fellow striker William Saliba.

Chelsea star Cole Palmer took out the young player award after starring since his summer transfer from Man City.

Palmer has scored 14 goals and provided nine assists in 34 games so far this season.

The 21-year-old received the award from former Chelsea midfielder and manager Frank Lampard.

Spurs duo Destiny Udogie and Pape Matar Sarr were also nominated, along with AFC Wimbledon’s Ali Al-Hamadi and Jack Currie.

Vicario was crowned Goalkeeper of the Year, with the Spurs goalkeeper beating West Ham’s Alphonse Areola, Fulham’s Bernd Leno and Crystal Palace’s Sam Johnstone to the award.

West Ham goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold was also among the nominees.

Lauren James and Agnes Beever-Jones, both from Chelsea, were also honored at the awards.

James was named FA WSL Player of the Year, with Beever-Jones taking the young player award.

Former West Ham, Tottenham and Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp was the winner of the London Outstanding Contribution to Football award.
