Tottenham forward Erik Lamela targeted by Serie A side Bologna, who says there would be ‘no better substitute’ than him if their star man Riccardo Orsolini joins AC Milan.

- Bologna, meanwhile, fears the loss of their star fullback Riccardo Orsolini
- Lamela previously played in Serie A and spent two years with Roma
Bologna has confirmed that Tottenham forward Erik Lamela is high on their summer transfer list.
The 29-year-old Argentina international is in the last 18 months of his contract with Tottenham and the Serie A side are eager to bring him back to Italy, where he previously spent two years with Roma.
And Bologna director Walter Sabatini has boldly referred to the Tottenham man as an interesting player, especially with the ongoing ties between their key man Riccardo Orsolini and AC Milan.
Tottenham and Argentinian attacker Erik Lamela is wanted by Serie A outfit Bologna
“Lamela is one of the names we’re looking for,” Sabatini said Evening standard‘We are trying to understand if there are opportunities to get there and there is no guarantee.
‘If Orsolini leaves, there is of course no better replacement. We shall see.’
Lamela played 29 times in all competitions this season, scoring four goals, including his lavish attack in the recent North London derby.
But that game also showed Lamela’s frustrating side. After putting Tottenham ahead with a fantastic rabona, he was later sent off when his side was beaten 2-1 by their fierce rivals.
Bologna is preparing for the departure of key figure Riccardo Orsolini in the summer
Lamela came to Tottenham from Roma in 2013 in a deal worth around £ 25m, but if he were to leave this summer the London side would raise a much smaller fee with just a year to go.
Orsolini has drawn attention to Bologna this season with seven goals in 27 games, but with his 11th place finish in the Serie A rankings, he is widely expected to continue in the summer.
24-year-old Orsolini also scored two goals in his first two appearances for the Italian national team.
