But now that Torvill and Dean have a bus pass under their belts, it looks like it really is time to hang up the skates for good.
Jayne Torvill, 67, and Christopher Dean, 66, have confirmed they will perform on television for the last time during this year’s series of Dancing On Ice, which returns to ITV tomorrow at 6.30pm.
And following their UK tour, which runs from April to July, the skating duo will bow out with a final show in Nottingham.
The couple told the Mail: “Now we both have a bus pass, it’s time.”
‘This is our last year, so it’s important. We are going to do two shows during the series, but the second will be the last on television. We knew that when we turned 50 we would hang up our skates.

‘We will continue doing the show, always, but we will no longer skate. “We thought this year was a good time to do it.”
The friends became famous at the 1984 Winter Olympics, when more than 24 million viewers tuned in to their legendary Bolero routine.
In 2006, they became judges on ITV’s Dancing On Ice. But ratings have fallen over the years. The last series saw
